Hi everyone,
Happy Victoria Day to you all, Canadians, and non Canadians alike !!
Serge is doing well,, We are keeping him quite dopey on his ACE, and in conjunction with his pain meds, he is really quiet and healing nicely.. We'll talk to the vet this week, about gradually decreasing the dose, as he does not have his sutures out until the 28th.. The second photo is not the sharpest.. He was not very co-operative..The cat drinking out of his bowl was a far more interesting proposition, than lying still for us.
Other than the fading red mark you can see on the photos,(where he banged himself, while running after the cat, first day home !!) the incision appears to us at least, to be healing well. No puffiness, or discolouration, and it is completely dry..It looks as if it is beginning to itch, because he is trying his hardest to get at it.. The meds seem to be managing the pain quite well. His shaved coat appears to be slowly starting to "fuzz"..I would imagine that is also itching. Other than being a little dopey most of the time, he is doing well, all things considered..
Have a good week
Regards
Richard

Happy Victoria Day to you too! Hope you're having a lovely afternoon.
Wow the incision looks fantastic. That's some interesting handiwork. Are those staples or stitches?

Hi Jerry,
They are stitches.. She, Dr Nicole Gallant, is a very experienced vet, who manages both large and small animals, and has been stitching incisions for a long time. There is another neatly stitched incision on his belly, where she fixed the hernia.
It just needs to be 10 deg C warmer and sunny !!!
Take Care
Richard

Well she did a beautiful job on those stitches! That's so funny how our Wyatt had a hernia too, he had his fixed last year when he underwent a gastropexy procedure.
You can have our warm weather Richard, it's way too hot here in Las Vegas today. I'll send it your way!

Hoppy Victoria Day! We'll celebrate any holiday here in Oaktown! I don't know how we missed your earlier posts but I just got caught up with your story. We have a trio of tripawd GSDs here. All of them are rear-leg amps. One at 8 mos, one at 10 mos, and the last we don't know when. All were the result of stupid people tricks, not cancer. So, if there are any questions we can help answer just let know!
I don't know if its just me (by replies it is obvious that others could see them when you first posted them) but I cant see the photos in your earlier posts(all those before the homecoming photos). I tried using two different browsers and I am really bummed because there is nothing in the world as cute as a german shepherd pup! Do you have photos of Serge posted somewhere else online?
Serge's incision looks awesome! Good work!

p.s. maybe admin guy can fix the photos?

Hi Oaktown Pack and Martha !!
I deleted some photos, and forgot that they are permanent links... I've attached a few of the little guy over the last 3 1/2 months, together with our (older female (4 1/2 yr) GSD Raven, (showing off her Winter fat) who is running it off at the breeder this week, to let the little fellow have some peace and quiet... In the last photo, you can clearly see the result of the missing hock, in the left hind leg.
I guess the "Habs" chances are diminishing by the hour now that Carey Price is out for the series.. Oh dear......
Have a good week, and take care,
Richard

OMD! Puppeeeeeeee!!!! Serge is so cute! Thanks for posting the pics again Richard! Are Raven and Serge from the same breeder? They look so much alike in that first photo.
You threw me with the "Habs" thing but I looked it up on google and learned something new today. We're not much up on ice hockey at our house

Yes, they are from the same breeder, and they are related....Ravens' father was a magnificent GSD "Harley", who sadly passed away last year, and Serges' father is really good natured GSD "Taizer", who was Harleys' son.. Different mothers, as the breeder is very careful not to inbreed.. She has pure black, and black and tan lines...All her dogs have a great temperament, but still have the GSD "drive" when needed...
Sorry, I should have said "Montreal Canadiens", not "Habs"... Can you please send us some California weather.....
Have a good week,
Richard
