Whoopee....
Serge got his sutures removed, is off the Tramadol, and we have some ACE in reserve, just in case he needs to be calmed down. The sutures were a little tight, and after a couple of yelps, where I guess the vet "pinched" the skin a little, we had to call in one of the vet techs to help keep him still. I was holding on to one of his front legs, my wife was holding the other one, and the vet tech was hanging on to the rear end. It was over quickly after that, and a couple of treats from the vet, perked the little guy up. He is now 42 Lbs, and growing like a weed. WE RAN OUT OF BATTERIES FOR THE CAMERA, and have no record of this rugby scrum on the table at the vet clinic !!
Ravens' homecoming was the return of the Prodigal Female GSD.. whooping and yapping, jumping, falling down, lick..lick..lick..(that was me !!). She realized something was different about little Serge, and after he had calmed down, spent some time examining the amputation area, and watches him curiously, as he is moving around...
The vet advised against any rough housing for the next few days, and if he gets too rambunctous, to give him some ACE..
I'll be outside tomorrow trying to get the grass cut, before the lawn looks too much like "The day of the triffids ". Photos will be forthcoming..
Now the real work begins !!
Thanks for your support, now and in the future
Regards
Richard

Yay!!! So glad everything is going well and that Raven is home! I had to remove sutures from a 6 month old GSD yesterday, so I can imagine the struggle lol. I hope everything continues to go just as great for you guys! Cant wait to see pictures of him and Raven together.

Great news! Love to hear updates. Personally I'm against ACE but that's because it's very strong and they use it on horses (my daughter just graduated animal sciences with a bachelors in Animal Sciences. She also worked at the equine center... she said she really was surprised. But if Sarge can tolerate it then it's good to go. Bailey was overdosed on it at a emergency night clinic prior to her diagnosis of osteoscarmona. We almost lost her that night before everything else, they gave it to her according to her weight but a Dane can get only about a third of that if any at all... I think Great Danes are just super sensitive to drugs... (maybe?) But only you know and it sounds like he takes it like a champ. I just hate the word! 🙁
Keep up the great progress.
