Honey's had a lot of ups and downs the past week - mostly down the past few days. She went to the vet today and the cancer has spread to the liver and spleen. She's struggling to stand and walk. It's all happened so fast. There's not much that can be done and we don't want to put her through anything else. We're going to love her like crazy for the next few days and then let her go. We've been preparing ourselves for this but hoped and thought we would have more time.
Thankfully, Honey isn't in pain and she's loving having visitors. We just can't believe its time to say goodbye. We'll miss her playful teasing, annoying begging and her sensitive sweetness. She would love her tripawd friends to celebrate her life with a bowl of ice cream or toast (her favorite!).
Thanks to everyone here for the care and support.

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."
Dx Osteosarcoma 3/31/10. Amputation 7/21/10. Honey put up a valiant fight and lost her battle 9/22/10. Missing her and treasuring 9 years with our Honeygurl.
Honey and all the family,
My heart also breaks for you and I can hardly make out the screen because of all the tears. Having faced this exact situation just nine months ago, I can honestly tell you that I feel what you are going through right now. First and foremost, know that you give Honey a wonderful life and her fighting spirit is a true testament to the love that you all share. Miss Cherry was able to love her truck trips right up to the last moments, and I truly hope that you have something that will fill Honey's spirit as fully.
We will not have Internet access for the next week, but know that we will be thinking of Honey and the entire family. Praying that this time together fills your very sole with the love you shared. I will remind you as I have so often reminded others of this community, that Honey will always be with you for the gifts that she gave will live with you forever.
Ever Hopeful for a Miracle,
Spirit Cherry's Dad
Oh Honey's family,
I am so very sorry to hear. I'm at a loss for words because the pain of heartbreaks is so hard.
It is a beautiful thing to get the opportunity to have some last moments but it doesn't mean it will be any easier. You are giving her a last gift of love by letting her go as you know.
I can only send my support and thoughts virtually, but know I am sad, so sad for you.
Hugs,
Comet's mom
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Give Honey lots of lovin' for us all and know that your final gift of kindness to her will be to release her from her broken body. Her spirit shall always live on in your heart. Peace.
PS: Give her a good ear rub and let her know Jerry will be there to welcome her at the bridge.

I am terribly sorry to hear about Honey's condition. We had a dog undergoing chemo (for lymphoma) and after she was deemed "in remission" she ended up developing the same symptoms as Honey. It had spread severely to her lungs and we too had to free her from her ill body. It was especially hard then because I was only 10 and it was the first dog I had ever grown up with. You really do lose a family member. It is so sad and heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with you at this time.
Chloe and I are thinking of you at this time and we would like to extend this offer to you as a way to pay tribute to Honey's brave battle: We have signed up for a K9 Cancer Walk in October and we are walking for dogs that have been affected by cancer, whether they be still with us or have crossed rainbow bridge. I am making a custom shirt, writing the names of the dogs by hand that we will be walking for at the event. If you would like us to add Honey's name, we would be honored to walk for her. If you scroll up on the forum you will see a picture of the back of the recent names. Just leave a comment on the forum.

PS. We also suggested that anyone on October 10th take their dogs on a walk (or go on a walk yourself) in your own neighborhood in order to walk for K9 Cancer as well. Everyone here on the Tripawd website is here for you
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
I'm so sorry to read this. I'm at such a loss for words. Please give Honey an extra hug for us. We will help celebrate her life with a bowl of ice cream. We're holding all of you in our hearts.
Sending hugs,
Holly, Zuzu and Susan
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

I'm so sorry for Honey and for your family. Let her eat anything and everything!!! Sounds like she loves it all!!! 🙂
So sorry this has happened so fast for Honey....this disease just totally sucks.
Hugs & thinking of you,

Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09
Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
It's hard for me to see the keyboard with tears in my eyes. I am so saddened to read that it is time for Honey to go. She sounds so much like Spirit Skyler. Skyler also went down hill very quickly. Give her a big hug from us, and kiss her snout too! We're sending special golden hugs to you, and Skyler will be at Rainbow Bridge to meet & greet her.

It breaks my heart to read this. I have thought of Honey often since your last post. I was so hoping it was just a reaction to the chemo. I'm thankful she's not in pain and that you and the family have a few days left to spend with her. I know you are going to spoil her.

I am so very sad to read that very soon you will have to say goodbye to Honey. My heart is breaking for you all. My thoughts are with you.

I'm so saddened to read this about Honey. This must be so very very difficult....my heart goes out to you and your family.
Thinking of you and sending you lots and lots of golden hugs. So very sorry.....
Kami (Mackenzie and Kobe's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
