I'm not surprised you freaked out at all, Holly! As I said in my email, I really feel it would have been better to discuss everything they were going to include in their email when they saw you. Otherwise, you are bound to stress and start imagining every scenario. I'm glad Dr Matt was able to reassure. I did like the fact that Purrkins was 'his wonderful self'. Which of course we know, but it's good to know he is properly appreciated. See ya back in the bucket
Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
Yes I do not like surprise by email;) Still upset and still a little on edge of course but we have a plan & cannot wait to hear what MSU says!! Yes his wonderful self he is always We love Dr. Matt & trust him & gets right back to us which is so appreciated!!
Back to the bucket! thank you for saying I am not alone in the freakin out department;) UGH
Hi Holly and Purrkins,
I think anyone would freak out after getting unexpected news like that, especially someone who has had dealings with cancer in the past.  It is one of those overly sensitive topics.  For what it is worth, I agree with your regular vet, that MSU was just covering their butt and not really concerned with the findings.  Since you got the news on a Sunday, most likely you googled yourself to death.  I know I certainly would have.  Hopefully if you did that, what you found was similar to my own quick search & helped to reassure you until your regular vet replied.  (ie most myelolipomas are not mast cell tumors & most mast cell tumors are not malignant). Â
If possible, try to relax, cuddle & chin scratch Purrkins and know that his wonderfulness is legendary. Â And if you think it will help, make a voodoo doll to take your frustrations out concerning how MSU chose to inform you. Â

Yep I did the Dr. Google search of course and I was mixed on what I found, I found with cats it is a debatable topic! I found both so then I started my frantic emails;)Â

OMC Sally Thank you for the much need laughs & confirmation I am not overreacting !Â
So do not MESS WITH BUCKETEER OR THEIR FUR CHILDREN!!
You and me both on the kicken some ---!Â
Love you guys! Back to my duties with a good giggle
Mark talked to MSU ONCO she apologized for not saying the possibility of mast cell! She said that clinically they had to put that on his papers. She didn't mention it & should have. Â She did not feel it was anything to worry about & it was just a fatty nodule because of the color! So anyway 2 confirmations and will do the 6 months ultrasound just to maker sure! Turns out to be a better day !!!
Oh Holly, I would have flipped out too! I do agree that they were covering all bases by mentioning it on paper, just too bad it wasn't addressed in person. I'm glad you're better now and all is well. Just don't tell Purrkins he's going to get his belly shaved again in six months!

YAAAAAAAAAY FOR FATTY NODULES!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂    Sounds so much better than the labels we humans get...like "rolls of fat"...cellulite mounds, etc 🙂 🙂

Thank you Rene!! I am so glad I was not alone in my reaction! I do feel better, I do not feel better we are doing the 6 months reshaving and having to put Purrkins thru this again! But to be able to get rid of this unlikely mast cell hanging over us we will and hopefully then we can do the yearly! Â Purrkins knows none of this;) I will share with him what is happening the day before UGH! Â Purrkins will be a cold Purrkins in December!
Sally Yaaay for Fatty nodules !!! It does doesn't ?In this case I would of loved the human labels any of those labels would of been great with me;) We will celebrate Fatty nodules and maybe they will leave or just stay fatty nodules or rolls of fat, cellulite or mounds
Thanks again everyone we will hop on like this never happened and deal with it again in DecemberÂ
Love to all!!
XOXOXO
Fatty nodules are fantastic! 🙂 🙂 🙂Â
We have quite a few of those and relish them quite a bit 🙂
