Fantastic news, way to go, Pofi!! It's hot and humid here too, I can't blame Pofi for not wanting to go on a walk or eat breakfast in this heat!
Oliver will join him today when he starts his Palladium. He's enjoying a chewy now, so I don't want to interrupt I hope he does as well as Pofi!
Checking in to see how Oliver is handling the Palladia. Hoping a feisty, playful pup and wedding planning are keeping you too busy to pop in and that all is essentially well.
Lisa, Minneapolis
On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
I was just thinking of you guys today as I was walking him. He's meh on the palladia. I've never seen him with an upset tummy, but knew instantly because he started eating grass and leaves like it was steak. He's also not really walking... I have to coerce him to walk around the block to potty. But after about 20 minutes of that outside, he goes potty, then he will come back inside and be excited and play with his toys for a little bit before passing out. Before all of this, it would take HOURS of exercise to exhaust him, but now he gets tired pretty easily. He also has a seroma from the staples and is still doing a little bleeding near his staples as well. We're going in tomorrow for a check in with he surgeon, so I'll update to let you know what he says. I'm going to bring up the nausea as well and wee if we can get him on some anti-nausea meds. Thank you for checking in!!!
Good to hear from you!
Yeah, maybe Cerenia will help with the nausea. The tiredness could be because it's so hot. Guess it could be a side effect of the Palladia...don't know enough about it. Obviously, if side effects start interfering with Ollie's quality, you can check out other options. Sounds like he's tolerating it fairly well though.
Glad you're getting the seroma checked. That Ollie really likes going to the vet!! Will look forward ro your update tomorrow.
Hugs to all!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
We did start Cerenia last week on our Palladia nights - I did think he seemed more blah an mornings after Palladia - and it really does seem to be helping.
A canine physio therapist in England posted in a group that I am part of that tripod dogs use a lot more oxygen and energy in getting around than a 4 legged dog. I think he said about 30% more - so they do tire more easily and perhaps overheat more easily. Pofi has been a bit lazy in the heat and humidity, but one cool morning he insisted on a walk and it was a vigorous one.
Hope the doctor is pleased with how Ollie is doing.

Sorry that it's taken me so long to give you all an update! Oliver is doing very well. He sometimes gets an upset tummy from the chemo, but overall, acts like his old self. He gets way more tired than he used to, and much quicker too, but he's still attempting to run and jump and play as much as possible!
I wanted to send along two photos from the wedding with us and Ollie... I can't thank you guys enough for getting us through what was the hardest period of our lives. We both wrote our vows, and we both talked about Oliver in them (and of course, we both cried during that part!) I tell people all the time that I don't know what I would have done without this site. Now that things are starting to settle, I hope to also help others on here, or at least support them through their process. Thank you all SO SO MUCH!
Hooray for Ollie! I am so glad you posted. After the rough time you all had, I was thinking about you a lot. And congrats on your wedding! Love Oliver's bow tie - very dapper!
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
So glad to hear things are going well! Beautiful pics, and how sweet to include him in your vows. After all you've been through, you all deserve smooth sailing and sunny skies from here on out. The greater the adversity, the sweeter the rewards. Congrats!

I am so, so happy at your update - I had said to others that I hoped you all were just so busy with wedding, etc., and that is why we had not seen an update. The pictures are so wonderful - I teared up. You all just look gorgeous and it is so fantastic he was feeling great and is back to being Oliver again in time for your special day.
Wishing you all much joy!
