Sweetpea had her amp surgery 7 weeks on this Monday and we noticed a lump to back area. We asked her doc 10 days ago and was told it was prob nothing. Well today - I decided to take her to get checked anyway and when we came home from work - to get her, she had just awoken was unable to walk, was confused and did this head swooping down movement. It happened one time 2 days ago, but lasted only 30min. Today- it has lasted longer - few hours, but at least she was still impaired when we got to the vet - so I didn't have to try to explain.
The vet was at a loss and found a second lump in line with the first, she tried to get fluid off the bigger one and looked under a micro and does not feel it is a cyst, lipoma or infection - so that concerns us even more, but wont have the results till Monday - hopefully. As far as the neuro issues - did labs to check her, possibly could be her liver function, oddly these episodes happened within hour of taking her K9 Immunity Plus - so she is having us hold it. So right now - we are waiting & praying - has anybody had these neuro symptoms before? I am a"people" nurse and if we had a patient that had a episode one day, than completely normal the next - to it return again - I would be unsure myself. Thank you for any replys:)
I'm sorry Sweetpea. I have never come across this. I hope someone else can offer you come comfort and we will hold you in our prayers for a good result on Monday.

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Oh that's scary, I'm sorry! How is she doing today?
I will say that yes, we've seen neurological issues here but the causes are so across the board, I couldn't even begin to compare them to what's going on with Sweetpea.
My heart goes out to you, I know how nerve wracking this is and how helpless you must feel right now. Do your best to stay calm and centered, she needs you to be strong right now. I hope your weekend is uneventful and you get a diagnosis asap. Remember, if you're not satisfied with the answers, seek a second opinion, it can make all the difference.
Paws crossed that this was a one-time thing. Keep us posted OK?

Anytime I read/hear about unexplained neurological issues--especially involving loss of coordination and head bobbing--I remember when we went through tick paralysis with our dog Belle. I don't think this is what you are describing because it doesn't come and go. But I still mention it, just in case. And also in case anyone in the future reads your post looking for answers. If I can ever spare anyone the torture of thinking their dog was done-for when in fact removing a tick (carrying the disease, of course) will provide immediate improvement, I will wave the flag all over to do so. Again, it doesn't sound like that's your issue, but ticks carry so many diseases that show up as oddball neuro symptoms that I throw it out there.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Spirit Samson was Spirit Tripawd Daisys four legged "brother" and ruled as the self proclaimed head of the Monkeybutt Federations East Coast Division. Lady Chunky Monkey stayed from Oct 2011 and left for the bridge in Apr 2012. Miss Perdy is left and has some big pawprints to fill.

Wow. That's odd. Not any type of a seizure? One of my dogs did this odd movement with her front leg, straight out front and then down and the vet said that was a seizure sign in dogs.
And interesting about the timing and the K9 Immunity Plus. I gave my dog 1/3 the dose for one day and I thought it made him feel unwell. I'm going to try it again I think, but after Lily having some stomach problems (but was on multiple supplements in addition to K9) and my thinking it didn't sit well with Duke, it has my antenna up. That's for sure.
Hope those lumps are nothing and that Sweetpea gets to feeling better soon.
Poor Sweetpea! Hope it is just a reaction to something and nothing more serious. Sending good thoughts your way!!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Oh dear, I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this. I know how difficult it is to watch them struggle like this, and the uncertainty of not knowing what is wrong makes it 100 times worse.
We did have some neuro problems, but it doesn't seem quite like what you guys are experiencing. Based purely on my own single experience with Holly, and with absolutely no professional knowledge, I would be inclined to keep her as still as you can in case it is something spinal.
Good luck, we are sending lots of pawsitive thoughts your way.

Well the vet called and said her labs looked good, but (why is there always a but) her potassium is a little low and her alk phos actually came down to 800 (from 1250). Now she is drinking pedalyte, waiting for the biospy result tomorrow for the lump on her back. Thank God no neuro symptoms again. Family ask if the lumps (2) on her back if it is her cancer are we doing surgery and I am pretty sure - we are done cutting on her. The amputation surgery- resulted in a cardiac reaction, even though she recovered from it, I do not think I could deal with putting her through surgery again - for her to die during it. I gotta to tell, being an oncology nurse, you would think I wouldn't be having such an issue. I personally think the worst part is -the anxiety of the unkown: i wake up several times a night to make sure she is breathing, my husband comes home at lunch time to check on her, I dont want her to pass at home without us and nor do I want to have to take her in, and do it that way. I am sorry to go on like this, I think it's just a bad day!!!!
and tomorrow we are at our 7 week anniv!!!!
The unknown is very hard. And the worrying.
Hang in there!
Feel free to 'go on' whenever you want. That's what we're here for and most of us have done it at some point.
Give her some extra lovin's from us,
