Unfortunately, Etta has taken a dramatic turn for the worse. Over the past week she has been getting progressively weaker in her back end. Yesterday I came home to find her laid out on her side unable to move. She had gotten one of her legs caught in her harness but its unclear if she got it caught and then struggled or just collapsed and while frantically trying to get up she got it caught. Regardless, she is not walking and we are waiting to see if the prednisone shot and follow up pred pills will give her the relief she needs to stand up. It seems that her back hurts a lot and she is unable to put any weight on her right side. Her appetite is still strong and she is drinking water .... Is she stays stable overnight we are going to try and get her to rehab in the morning for some acupuncture. If there is no improvement in the next day or so I think we may have run out of options... It's unbearable to think of letting her go but we can't see her suffer. It may be very likely that there is another tumor that has grown very fast...
Healing thoughts and prayers for Etta!

Our angel "Etta" amputation on 4-15-10 lost her front limb. initially dx'd with neurofibrosarcoma. However, after surgery they discovered histiocytic sarcoma a very aggressive cancer. After two full rounds of chemo our special angel lost her battle on 6-21-10. the sweetest and most gentle soul. Our lives are forever blessed for having known her...
Oh Julie,
I'm so sorry to hear about Etta! I know how worried you must be right now. Hopefully, the prednisone will help her feel better...
You and Etta are in my thoughts and prayers!!!

Julie....
I am so sorry to hear about Etta. You guys are in my prayers.
Sounds very similar to what I experienced with Henri. Although each situation is different.
We gave him a Prednisone shot on June 2nd. He seemed to do well after the shot and he had the oral pills thereafter.
Henri sadly started getting worse, and we too thought it was his back or hips. I suspect it was spinal mets but the Vet said the only way to tell is if we did a CT scan. Henri still had a hearty appetite and drank plenty of water, although we brought it to him. He spent the last couple of weeks of his life in the foyer on his area rugs which he loved.
It was apparent Henri's condition was getting worse and the tramadol and prednisone were not effective.
The last couple of days, Henri was unable to walk or get up. I had to make the gut wrenching decision to let him go.
It has been extremely painful but I know he is running free without pain now.
My prayer is that this in only a temporary setback for Etta and that she will bounce back.
But know that we are thinking of you and Etta and praying for peace and that she is feeling better!
Hugs!
Wendy & Angel Henri~
Julie,
I'm so sorry to hear that Etta has taken this turn. My heart goes out to you. You are definitely in our prayers and I really pray that this is just a temporary set back. We are thinking of you.
Lots of golden hugs coming your way......
Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Julie, I am very sad to read that Etta is having such a hard time. I hope the shot and pills will help her. My thought and prayers are with.
Jo Ann & Tasha

Tasha lost her battle and became my Angel on May 4 2011. Forever in my heart….
Julie,
I'm praying that Etta rebonds. It is so hard for them and us when our babies have these symptons. My prayer is that this is just a rebound and the shots will help.
Debra
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
Hang in there, Etta! More thoughts and prayers are coming your way!!!

So sorry to hear about Etta. With everything we've all been through with our "fur kids", I don't think we're ever prepared for that sudden turn for the worse. I'm praying it's a temporary thing, and she's feeling better soon.
Hugs and sloppy Sadie kisses,
Lisa & Sadie
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.
