Oh wow, please keep us posted! He seems like such a sweetie, I want to know how things go.
My dog, Cooper, was only 7 months old when his amp was done, so he's known almost nothing except walking/hopping on three!
I hope Odin is doing better now. Please keep us informed!

Cooper (11/11/11 - 3/29/24) was a hound-collie mix "mutt" who was badly injured as a puppy and lost his leg at 7 months of age. We adopted him after the operation. He' was wonderful companion and comforting presence in our family for 12 years. He lived a fabulous life on three legs and was an inspiration to all. We will never forget our Coopie-Doopie-Doo.
Hi everyone,
Odin is doing GREAT. He is slowly getting the hang of hop walking, the redness at his incision has gone away, and he getting better at standing, which is giving him the most trouble. We're keeping him in the garage until we think he can handle steps into the house. But I am able to spend pretty much the entire day with him and my husband camps out in the garage with him (and now the kids take turns camping out here, too--my three year old read him a bedtime story last night!!).
I want to work on uploading some photos of him, but I don't yet have an online photo sharing site. Will try to get to that eventually!
Odin is scheduled for suture removal this Wednesday immediately followed by an appointment with the oncologist. Wish us luck!

So happy to hear that beautiful Odin's mobility is coming along. I can only imagine how hard it was at the start until those new muscles get strong enough to help him. Well done sweet boy well done! Baby steps big guy will win this race. Good luck at his upcoming appointment but he's really going to be happy to be suture free! That's when a lot of us saw the sparkle come back 😀.
Great news! Sounds like he is right on schedule. Once the sutures come out, I bet he starts feeling even better!
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
This is such great news! Thanks for updating us. I'm glad to hear Odin's doing better. Even though I don't know you, I was worrying about him and the family. He will continue to amaze you. 🙂

Hi all!
Odin is doing amazing and I've officially moved on from feeling terrible about doing this to him to being relieved we've hopefully spared him some pain and anguish. He's doing all the normal things--begging for food, following people from room to room, etc. We had to start out keeping him in the garage since he would have had to do ramps or steps into the house. After a week in the garage, a bad rainstorm flooded us out and we carried him into the house. He has since pretty much mastered the ramps and the one 9" step from our porch into the house. He is thrilled to be inside with the family where he belongs!
He's had his sutures removed and his first round of chemo this past week. So far, he doesn't seem to be experiencing adverse effects. The tumor tested positive as osteosarcoma, but the lymph node they removed was negative. Hoping this all bodes well for him!
I'll move Odin's story to the Hopping Around thread, and keep his story updated there. Thanks to all of you for the kind and encouraging words!!!
