Has anyone experienced irritated hair follicles that resulted in inflamed masses? Our Opaldog is 5 months post op and we're now experiencing this unexpected compilcation and are looking at another surgery to remove a lump. Feeling a bit helpless over here, I thought we were finally out of the woods
Hey OpalDog! Wow, five.months already? Time flies.......
Okay, I'm having a "duh" moment (again)! Is Opal having a lump removed that's a result of the irritated hair follicles? Are the hair follicles infected? Are the ahir follicles/lump at the incision site?
I know I'm zero help and asking more questions than answering! Hopefully others chime in with more insight. .
Hugs!

We noticed a lump that was red and raised at the incision site a month or so ago but it went away. It looked almost like a blood blister, she does play rough with our other dog so we thought maybe she got stepped on. When it came back in the exact spot we decided to get it checked out. Our vet said it is most likely an irritated hair follicle from the initial surgery and that it will likely continue to come and go but it risks getting infected thus causing a bigger complication. They said they can remove it with a surgery similar to a lumpectomy and that it would be a small incision with a few sutures. It's just disappointing I guess because we made it 5 months and thought we were in the clear.
OK, I am confused. It's a hair follicle that is irritated/infected. Remind me did Opal have cancer? They are not thinking it's cancer right so you "should be in the clear" unless they are thinking its a cancer nothing to be really worried about. They will just take it out and have a few stitches get them out and be done 🙂
