I'm glad you found a helpful angel to come by. I hope Lylee rallies and has many more good days ahead. Days filled with loving and beach visits and Flying Dutchman!
Thinking of you guys,
Jackie
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
TWP Chariot to the rescue - Lylee manages to go for a little ride this evening and even got out to have a wee. Yay!
Then she ate her dinner with a little coaxing. Yay!
Then she had her meds in cream cheese ("slime balls") and loved the roast beef treats. Yay!
Hopefully she will have a good night and feel happier in the morning.
Thank you gang for all the good thoughts!

Yay for a rally! Go Lylee! That was really nice to read after getting caught up with your previous post. I hope today is even better.
It's terrific you were able to consult with a hospice nurse. We think it's such a great idea, and hope that more hospice folks are available in the coming years. I know it can bring a lot of peace of mind. If you'd like, feel free to post a referral for this person in our "Referrals" discussion.
Ask your vet if it would be OK to try Robitussin, the non-prescription (sugar-free) kind. We used this when the mets got bad and it didn't make me sleepy.
Three cheers for a good day today! Keep us posted.

Joanne, how is Lylee this morning? I know that cancer doesn't play fair, but neither does age. And when you have the combination, it's so hard to decipher what's coming from where. I want Lylee to grow old. I will hope that our special TWP is just finally feeling a bit of age and needs more chariot rides and expensive treats to feel better. Keep us posted, please.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

And I must add that sometimes it is our dogs that don't play fair! After Zeus's bad news on 8/1/12 he felt SO bad, couldn't catch his breath. I truly believed that he would not make it through that weekend. He surprised us and has done quite well for several weeks now. I know things can happen really quick, but sometimes they do just have a bad day (or two). Lylee is a strong girlie so I'm hoping you still have lots of happy times ahead.

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Good news - our girl is feeling better this morning. She had a good nights sleep, she didn't really want to get up but with some encouragement she went potty by herself and then had breakfast with her mum feeding it to her. As Shari pointed out I think this is a combination of stoopid osa and also getting into her more mature years (She'll be 13 in a few months!) and then add in a beach pawty (every beach trip is a pawty to her and her body said "whoa - slow down".
I'll post photos on her blog of just what she got up to. The next beach day we'll try to moderate our princess. It's interesting to note that she has no coughing from strenuous exercise but only sometimes at rest. Her cough is sounding more "rattly" - we think a tumor is closer to a main airway and that is why it seems more like an irritation that she is trying to cough up. We will try the Robitussin - thanks Jerry!
One day at a time!

Yeah - too right Lisa, our pups just don't realize what agonies we go through when they feel punky - it's like we die a thousand deaths for them even before their time
Big hugs

(lylee sez my Momma worries too much and forgets to be just in the moment ie. more 'dog')

Oh Lylee, you made our day. Whew! It's so much nicer now that we know you are feeling better.
We would love to see some new pics of you!
As for those dumb mets...your situation sounds nearly identical to mine when I had them. Some days were better than others, and I seemed to only cough real bad at night or when I tried to lay on my left side where the mets had set up residence.
I hope you have many, many more pawesome beach days ahead, sweet princess. Love you lots!

Super news, Lylee! Glad to hear you are perkier today-- can't wait to see the pics!
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
Glad to hear she is feeling a little better today.

Abby was like that too. I think it was because (like you said) the location of the last met she had. It seemed she had ok airflow/could breathe fine standing up/moving around, but laying down was the worst part for her.
Hang in there Lylee! We're pulling for our beautiful, regale TWP!!

That's wonderful news. Glad to hear Lylee girl has perked up. Sending you lots of pawsitive thoughts.

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. Hey Foxy Lylee, you gotta get better so I can come over and give YOU a kiss!
How do I look in your bandanna? When I saw this in the Barney box, and I caught a whiff of your delicate fur that's all over it, I did three big rolls in the grass and said "I want to smell like Lylee!!!!"
And my Momma liked it because she sayz people won't be afraid of me if I smell like a girl and wear this around my neck!
So I hope you don't mind but you just smell so good, this was the treasure I wanted to keep from Barney's visit with us. Feel better OK? I love you.
