Well, this is hard to post. We went to the beach Monday and had a good day, she had much less energy but still enjoyed herself. Then yesterday she just seemed very tired but she enjoyed a Flying Dutchman treat After our short evening walk she seemed to be completely wiped (she rode a lot in her chariot). This morning she is not good. I'm hoping she just needs to rest and put out too much effort at the beach but I don't feel good about how this, cancer doesn't play fair.
Hugs

Oh, precious Lylee, you must fell better soon. Joanne, I know how terrifying even one bad day can be. Hoping with all of my heart that this is just a bump and Lylee is back to normal in no time. I just stopped what I am working on and said a prayer for you and your girl and I will continue to keep you in our thoughts. Please keep us posted.

p.s. - Zeus sends kisses and feel-better hugs.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Joanne- I was just thinking about you guys last night, wondering how Lylee was doing.
When we get to this part of the journey sometimes there are down days. I hope, hope, hope, hope, that Lylee just overdid a little.
Please keep us posted and let us know what we can do to help.

Joanne, oh I do hope she just overdid it on Monday. Definitely sending our best feel better vibes to beautiful Lylee, who is doing one hell of a job at kicking cancer's butt. I remember all too well the ups and downs-- and the worry. Feel better soon hugs coming your way.

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
Hoping your sweet girl just needs rest and is feeling better soon. Shower her with love, kisses, yummies and belly scratches from us all!!!

Oh no! Not our sweet Lylee. Adding our pawsitive thoughts to the "Just overdid it a little" mantra! (Happy to hear she got to enjoy a great day at the beach and a Flying Dutchman - that sounds like the best day possible, at least in Abby's book it was! Hope she's just pooped from all the fun.)
Let us know how she's doing.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Hoping that Lylee just had too much fun at the beach and just needs to rest up.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Our poor girlie - she is still crashed on her favourite bed under the dining table. She has pretty much slept all day, somewhat in part as i gave her Tramadol. She was uncomfortable last night, she refused her dinner last night but slowly ate most of it as I hand fed her. Then this am I made an oatmeal and Evo canned fud mix which she didn't really want but ate it to please her mum. She perked up quite a bit when her dad loved her up this am and we got lots of tail thumps and ate her roast beef treats from whole foods. She just wants to sleep. Her breathing is okay, it has changed a bit over the last few weeks, and now seems a little shallow today but not laboured. It seems like over the months she has had a slow and very gentle decline and now suddenly a sharp drop down. Monday she is playing on the beach and the next day crash.
I called a number of home visit vets today and found one who is wonderful and then he recommended a vet tech who specializes in home hospice support. Wow - this person is an angel. I seriously could not ask for a more perfect being to appear at this moment!! She was so kind to fit us in her busy schedule and came to the house today. Her name is Robyn Kesnow http://www.animalrn.com. We discussed hospice care and different medications and pretty much the whole support system she is able to give. What a blessing. We feel much better prepared for what might happen with Lylee.
As you said Karen, we are going to have down days, I sincerely hope our girl can rally and at least get some of her energy back. She has managed to have 2 good pees ad 1 poo today with some assistance. But she is just wiped out. One vet mentioned that lung mints can really make you feel awful. We had our last vet visit last Thursday to talk about her coughing which hasn't been too bad but can result in a retching or gagging and twice brought up bloody stuff which is unusual. As Jackie said in an earlier post - where the mints are growing can be crucial. The vet prescribed Hydrocodone to help with the coughing but we haven't used it as this is a narcotic and has strong sedation effects.
Thank you for all the love, support, prayers and juju - maybe it helped bring this hospice angel to us today
Fingers crossed tomorrow will be a better day.
hugs

Oh, I also hope that Lylee just overdid it a bit the other day and that she rallies for you. That's really great that you have hospice coming in for her. Hospice often helps people so I hope this give Lylee a little boost. Positive thoughts and prayers from Kathy and Harley.
Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/
