Xerox is on Day 5 post-having-his-rear-leg-lasered-off and I noticed a few little whitehead-looking pimple-ish bumps around the incision. Has anyone seen anything like this?

There's no oozing or gross smell, swelling or anything to suggest infection.

I'm calling my vet tomorrow but was hoping one of you guys had seen this kind of thing before. way-confused

I'm thinking razor burn, this has happened before. Do you have a pic you can post?

Let us know what the vet says and how they recommend treating it. We'll be waiting!

I think that a "just in case" call to the vet is a good idea.

It can either ease your mind or help you prevent a issue from worsening.

I have a wonderful vet who always says " If you have any questions, give me a call" and I do!

Healing wishes!

Just always try to consult to the vet each time you feel you need him. It's good idea of consulting the vet but my vet doc is very very expensive. Don't know what to do with him. NO free suggestion he gives..

I do seem to recall someone posting something like this before, but don't remember what the cause was. I don't remember what they ended up putting on it either. (I'm no help am i??) But I seem to recall that it was not a big deal - just some skin irritation I think.

Hope the vet has a suggestion.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Thanks guys, for all of your replies!  I put a call in to my vet and messaged some pics to him. He guessed (before seeing the pics, just based on my description) that it was irritated fur follicles from the shave. He told me to put a warm, wet washcloth on it for a bit to clean it up. I did it a few times and wouldn't you know, the very next day about 90% of the little whiteheads were GONE! I was SO relieved! big-grin

Now if I can just get Mr. Stump-a-lump in a better mood. He went from almost normal to pitifully depressed in a day. sad

BUT...I did catch him lying sort of on his bad side today (on his heating pad) which is a big improvement!  :)   Yay Day 7!

YAY! OK, so got that everyone?

Razor burn = warm compress.

I'm glad to hear he laid on his bad side. That is huge. It's these little things that add up and lead to recovery. Hang in there to you and Mr. Stump-a-lump!
