Day 5 and Pearl is still doing Amazingly well! The night b4 last I took her outside and she led me to the middle of the yard and was just standing there looking around. I got the feeling she was telling me to let go of the towel I was using as support (just in case). So I let go and she went over and went potty #2 all by herself YAY! She has been going potty all by herself since then YAY! I am still going outside with her, but she is getting off the porch with the ramp I made for her just fine. However I do still use the towel to go up the ramp because she does have a little bit of a hard time with that. She has also been back on her regular diet for a few days now. I really hope she keeps doing this awesome, but know there could be bumps in the road ahead. Here are a couple pics I took today.
P.S. Her re check appointment is later today, will try to let everyone know what the doc says after.
Yay for the poopy dance! Isn't it funny how we find ourselves celebrating these crazy things?!
Her incision looks really good. The first pic didn't show up though, was it a really big file?

I know I never thought I would be so happy about something that would usually be so simple.
I forgot to mention that the doc did start Pearl on Amoxicillin the day of her surgery. I would assume to make sure she does not get an infection. However I was so excited to see her I forgot to ask about it. I also have not let her laydown outside at all, to try and make sure it stays clean.
I am not sure why that particular pic is not showing up for u. It shows up on here for me, and is from the same source as the others. Will try again, please let me know if it works this time.
Pearl Day 5There she is! What a beauty. The pic worked this time, I wonder why it didn't at first? Where are you linking to?
As for the antibiotic, that's a common post-op one. I would continue it until the pills are done if that's what the instructions call for, it's to fight off the potential for infection. Do check with your vet if you have any questions though.

Jerry, the pics are from snapfish, and I did cut the pic down more the 2nd time. Of course I will finish her meds as instructed by her vet.
Thank you all, for all the Love. She will always be my pretty Pearly girl!
Her re check yesterday was good. Vet said everything looks good and to start ice packs for her swelling. Which I think has already helped. She was also impressed with how well she is getting around and told me to start 10 to 15 min walks twice a day. She also told me to watch for her skin getting flaky and if it does to get ahold of her right away, but she did not think it looked like it would, and so far it has not. Her next check is this Friday.
Hope all is well for everyone!
Yipee! Here's to healing.
As you go out and explore the world on three legs, watch for signs of exhaustion; if she sits down at all during her walk, she's overdone it and it's time to head back. Start slowly and remember there will be lots of time for longer walks as the weeks go on. Have fun!

Yay for Pearl!
Also, FWIW, if Pearl enjoys visits from favorite people or other dogs that's a good thing to do 10 days or so post amp to help keep them engaged and stimulated. Cheers to a great recovery!
Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
Pearl is still doing great! Got here stitches out on Friday, and she is getting around good.
Got the results back today though and she does have Osteosarcoma, however it is a Fibroblastic sub type. Which our vet has never heard of. She told me that some do say that her prognosis maybe more favorable than with other types. So we are going to continue her Chemo treatment plan which is 3 more treatments 1 every three weeks.
I am kind of at a loss for words right now. Need to do some research and wrap my head around this. Even though I knew this is what it could be I was still hoping it was something else.
I'm so glad to hear Pearl is kickin' butt!
The diagnosis is always a heartbreak, no matter how optimistic the prognosis, you just can't get around that heartbreak of the "C" word. But the good news is that Pearl doesn't know what the report says and she doesn't care...she's just happy to feel better and get on with life. If you can focus on that, and watch how she faces the world every minute of the day, you can get through anything this disease throws at you.
Stay strong in your heart and don't let Dr. Google overwhelm you. We'll try to help as best we can. What kind of chemo is she getting for this?
I have heard of other members who faced a fibroblastic type of osteosarcoma (Daisee Dog, for example). If your vet is at all uncertain and you want to know for sure that the treatments will be effective, a second opinion from another specialist could help a lot. Just a thought.
Give that gorgeous girl a big hug from us, she's so awesome!

Jist catching up! Sorryyou had to findnus but, under the circumstances, you couldn't be with a more supportive group ofpeople.
Yeah,ot's always a kickin the fut whennyou fet a diagnosis. Each dog is different and no dog comes with a time frame stamped on there butt! And Pearl certainlymisn't paying any attention to any ole' fancy diagnosis! No siree! She's feeling great and that's all that matters! HA! You think you loved and spoiled Peral before...you "ain't seen nuttin' yet"!
Yes, , I agree wkth Jerry about you gettng a second opinion. This stupid disease is so complicated and has so many twists and turns, you want to make sure Pearl's treatmetis as specific as possible tonher situation.
Pearl is javing quite a remarkable recocery! So glad she's dong so well! Keep it up Pearl! Yo're doing great! And so is moms Mom!!
You are not alne, okay? We are all here foryou and with you!

We are using Carboplatin Chemo. As far as a specialist goes, as far as I can tell we do not have a Veterinary Oncologist up here, but I will work on that more.
I am also going to talk to a nutritionist. I am hoping she will know more about K-9 immunity and Apo caps. Along with possible other diet tips.
I was also told by a friend that she has a client who is a scientist that is experimenting with white birch bark or at least something in it that might promote apoptosis. I am going to find out more about that on Monday or Tuesday.
On another note Pearl is still doing very good. I took her swimming for the first time (since her surgery) the other day, with a new ruff wear life vest. It was awesome she didn't mind it at all. She liked it so much she did not want to leave. Which is not a huge surprise because she has always loved to swim.
I am very thank full for all the support and encouragement I have gotten from everyone on here.
Till next time Love & hugs
Pearl & Mina
