We started Harry on Palladia this week, he is meant to have it mon, wed, and fri. Mon and Wed have been given and all seemed fine until today. When he got up this morning he seemed to find it really difficult to get up off his bed. His back legs were shaking and seemed stiff. During the day it eased off but tonight again I have seen him struggling and wobbly.
Has anyone else experienced this??
We've never used it but this is something I would definitely call your vet about. Hope he feels better soon!

I hope Harry is feeling better. I'm sure I've heard of another dog having a similar reaction to Palladia. It can certainly be a side effect.
If your vet doesn't have Harry on meds to protect his tummy please ask them for some. Magnum suffered needlessly because of the damage it did to her stomach.
Good luck

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Aww Harry! We need to get you feeling better quick.
Yes, definitely check with the vet! And loke Karen said, there have been others on nere with side effects fro Palladia....do a search here and see what pops up. Let us kow what the vet says. You may have to switch. Or it could even be so ething like a pulled muscle.
Give Harry a big ole' hug for us...and one for you too! You'll get this figured out and get over this hurdle. Never a dull moment in this journey, huh!?
We'll look forward to your update!

Thanks everyone. Harry seems to be doing ok regarding the Palladia. Not sure if it was just a bad day, maybe he had overdone it the day before. But I haven't noticed any leg shaking or weakness since then. We did speak to our oncologist and he said sometimes this can happen. Harry has a check up on Monday so we will see then.
He is doing fairly well. He seems to have days where his energy level is right up there and you would never know there was a thing wrong with him (Wednesday - he was out all day, walking, running and swimming! As much as he would have done as a 4 legged!) and then days like yesterday where he seems very lethargic. Also I have noticed the past few days a slight wheeze to his breathing, and a little noise like he is trying to clear his throat a lot. I'm trying to be positive. Some days it just feels like there is no light at the end of this tunnel...
On a different note...how do i post pics on here please?
Good to hear Harry seems to be doing OK. It is hard to deal with the ups and downs, and hard not to worry about everything. It's an acquired skill that I'm not sure I ever mastered during Maggie's cancer journey, but I'm doing better this time with her little sis Tani.
As for posting pictures, here are the instructions: http://tripawds.....-photos-1/
They have to be hosted somewhere on line like photobucket or in a blog on this site.
Looking forward to pictures!

Heck, Harry is your beacon of eternal light!! No need to every worry about being in a tunnel anymore without light, okay!!
I know it's soooooo hard not to worry about every little hiccup or blinkingof the eye, but jus remember, Harry is doing realky well and thoroughly enjoying everyday! It is perfectly normal for an amputee Harry's size to have days where is stamina is lower than others! ESPECIALLY if he prances arou d like a four legged pupy the day or two before!! AND, is maybe having a little "bump" due to the Palladia!
Aren't you hacing a little it of summer in Australia ow? Some of the "breathing noises" could be a little allergy recation or something like that. We become so hyper diligent, it could simply be that he's made these noises off and on and you just never paid that much attention.
Just take Harry's lead and stay in the moment! I know, easier said than do e! I'm paraphrasing a quote I saw here recently, but you dn't want to spend time "misskng what isn't gne, because then you lose what is left". Let NOTHING rob you of this wonderful t e with Harry, okay? He is having a ball soakingmup all the lovng and spoiling you're givinghim!! You're a great team!!
Wish I could help you with the pictures! Really, realy want to see Harry!! His avatar picture is delightful!! Love that voy!
Look forward to your next post .......with pics!!
Sending HUGE HUGS toyou both!! These HUGE HUGS have a lotof support and love wrapped up i side! Oh yeah! And a HUGE dose of healing energy!!
