Otis has his next oncology check-up this morning, so I guess we will see if the spot, that might not have been a spot and was only visible on one x-Ray view, was really a spot.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
We have everything crossed for you. Sending all good wishes xxx
Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
And Otis says, "Yay! I get another car ride!" The bliss of being dog!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Sending you all the pawsitive energy we have! Keep us posted.

Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

The bad news is that Otis has mets. Not huge, but obvious on the X-rays. Starting Palladia. The good news is that my ex just ran out to get him a cheeseburger. You know what news Otis is most interested in.

Not the news we were hoping to hear, but glad Otis has his priorities straight. Information is power....hang in there

I'm sorry, disappointing news.
I like Otis' priorities- I will have a cheeseburger in his honor for lunch today!

Ugh...just bleeping ugh!
Always remember Otis is not a statistic! Just ask Sassy and Jerry what they think about "statistics"...other than they are something ro be ignored!
As hard as it is for us humans, we have to put ourselves back into "dog mentality", back into the mentality of the laser focus Otis has on that cheeseburger! That xray changed nothing in the world of Otis!! Well, he may be confused as to why he's getting so many cheeseburgers and ice cream cones, but other than that, nothing has changed. Got any Starbucks in your area? Pretty sure Puppy Lattes have hiddedn nutritional value...really well hidden!
Sending lots of love and hugs

Actually, my ex was so upset by the news that Otis got Otis' cheeseburger, my ex's cheeseburger and a serving of fries. 😀

I am so sorry to hear that Otis has mets. He doesn't know that so lets celebrate all the memories. Sassy survived 7 3/4 months with mets. I don't have any experience with Palladia. It was too expensive for us we went with the Metronomic therapy talked about on here. The first one,Cyclophosphamide, we used for 5 months and gave Sassy a UTI so we went with Leukeran (not so much talked about that) with an NSAID. Katie, Jackson's Mom, had a great discussion with that. which can be found here
http://tripawds.....-leukeran/
Also, I always give this advice lots of pictures with you & you ex in them too. A lot of times we snap the picture of them but looking back we don't have a lot of us in them. Even if they are awful selfies you will love every minute of having them.
hugs

Oh no ... I am so sorry to hear about Otis mets .... these are not the news I was hoping for 🙁
This is such a piece of crap disease 😡 😡😡
But everybody is right in saying it doesn't mean anything as we all know what statistics are worth ...
And Otis is happy and gets to have his and your ex partner's cheese burgers PLUS fries 🍔🍔🍟
Sending you a huge bear hug Christine and tummy hugs to your gorgeous boy 🐻❤️❤️🐾
Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)

WOW... cheeseburgers all around!! And extra fries! 🙂
I'm sorry to hear about Otis' mets but like others have said ... many have done well w/mets. Shelby had baby mets and they didn't impact her life. Cancer was still an issue for us and what took her but it wasn't the mets!
And Otis has no clue he has mets ... he just knows that he ate REALLY well today!
Sending you love!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
