Since Otis was diagnosed with Lung Mets on 6/27, I have battled with what to do. Oncologist prescribed Palladia. I have had it in the house for a week and cannot bring myself to give it to him.
Just got off the phone with Dr. Loops and he is sending us a new plan of treatment, now that it has metastasized. Because we know nothing about vet medicine or homeopathy, we decided Palladia could help Otis live longer, however it may not work and the potential side effects are too much for us to feel good about giving it to Otis. So going with quality of life instead of quantity, we are putting all of our faith in supplements and homeopathic remedies.
We'll live each day as normal and hope it is a long time before any symptoms show up.
Got to be "more dog'.
-Rhonda & Otis
Otis - 121 lbs pre amp - 114 lbs post amp and now 118 lb Great Dane - English Mastiff X. Started limping on 12/24/16. Diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 12/28/16 - amputation of front left leg on 1/6/17. Stitches out and 1st round of Chemo on 1/19/17. 2nd round of Carboplatin on 2/10/17 - 3rd round on 3/2/2017. 4th round was scheduled for 3/22/17 - however due to low WBC postponed - 4th Chemo completed on 3/28/17. Had breathing difficulties, stayed in Tufts ICU overnight. Due for 2 more rounds of Chemo but we are opting to go with homeopathy with Dr. Loops instead.

EXACTLY!!!! BRAVO!!! The best way to defeat that piece of crap disease is ti NEVER let it interfere with yiur time together! Otis sure isn't!!!
You followed your inner voice. Sometimes on this journey I think our "inner voices" are our dogs whispering their wishes in our ear. You know your Otis best. I think you are spot on with your treatment plan. Many have gotten good results with the holistic approach, and side effect free and no disruption in quality!
Of course this goes without saying, continue to spoil like crazy!! Every day is OTIS DAY!!! And we MUST have pictures of all the different ways this sweet boynis being spoiled and loved! Surely ice cream is in the equation! 🙂
Love and hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Sounds like you have made your decision based on what is in Otis' best interest. None of us can do more than that. None of us have that crystal ball so we can only make our decisions based on love. You've done your homework and I think you've made an excellent choice! I know Otis will agree with you! Quality over quantity is important and hopefully you will get both! Hugs!
Following your heart is the best medicine there is. Good job Rhonda.
Let us know what Dr. Loops prescribes, I'm very interested in learning more. Thanks and much love to you and Otis.

I hope this works beautifully for Otis. I spoke with Dr. Loops yesterday, too! We just have to make the best call with the information and instincts we have.

Darling Rhonda🌹
I think this is a really good decision.
I also considered Palladia for Eurydice and even started it briefly but in the end opted for palliative/hollistic care.
I am convinced it was the best choice for my girl and we had a wonderful 6 1/2 months until she had to leave in her solitary journey.
No regrets whatsoever.
I know you are going to have a great, happy, loving time together 💖
Me and Eurydice are right by your side sweetie 🌹
Sending you both an avalanche of kisses and a tornado of cuddles to your boy and many woof woofs from above 🐮💫✨🌟🌹
Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)
