We got caught with the too low to treat WBC count once with Maggie. Of course that was after I had driven her the hour to the oncologist, dropped her off and driven back to work. After that we decided to do her labs at my local vet at some point before her treatment was due (I don't remember exactly when it was each time) so I didn't have to make the drive for nothing.
Just an idea.

Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.

Oh Otis!! I know you were just grumping and whining in the hopes of a big bag of cheeseburgers!! Definitely the best recommendation for improving WBCs and moods! Hope you are feeling better today, big handsome. Astronaut and I are rooting for you!
Cheers,
Kat and Astro
Karen - We were getting his 10-14 days after Chemo blood work at our local vet. We also thought about doing the day before Chemo bloodwork at our local vet - however he never had an issue so i got too comfortable thinking all was going to continue to go well.
I asked the oncologist and she said his WBC would be high enough by Monday and that I did not need to get him tested locally first. In the future I will have his bloodwork done locally however. I do enjoy our long rides alone where we can talk and sing and spend time together so I don't regret the trip.
Otis seems to be fine now. We skipped hydrotherapy this morning just to give him some rest.
Thanks Kat & Astro. While Otis will eat anything and could swallow hamburgers whole, his weakness is glazed munchkins from Dunkin' Donuts. He has to fast every time we go to TUFTS and on the way home we stop and get "cookies" at DD. He also cannot eat before hydrotherapy so after each session we go to DD for his cookies and my addiction - DD coffee lol We are DD addicts!
Otis - 121 lbs pre amp - 114 lbs post amp and now 118 lb Great Dane - English Mastiff X. Started limping on 12/24/16. Diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 12/28/16 - amputation of front left leg on 1/6/17. Stitches out and 1st round of Chemo on 1/19/17. 2nd round of Carboplatin on 2/10/17 - 3rd round on 3/2/2017. 4th round was scheduled for 3/22/17 - however due to low WBC postponed - 4th Chemo completed on 3/28/17. Had breathing difficulties, stayed in Tufts ICU overnight. Due for 2 more rounds of Chemo but we are opting to go with homeopathy with Dr. Loops instead.
