Has anyone ever heard of a study Ohio State is doing? I went to an oncologist today out of Waltham, Massachusettes and they told me about it. They are using a drug called gemzar to replace one of the drugs used in the canine chemo. I think they use carboplatin with gemzar instead of adriocarbo. It looks like gemzar is used for pancreatic cancers and carbo platin for ovarion and lung cancers. Does anyone know the drug they use in dogs? If anyone is interested they are also covering 60% of your pets chemo costs with this study.

Hi Titan,

Well, here's one that we found at OSU, is this what you mean?

Clinical Evaluation of Combined Carboplatin/Gemcitabine in the Treatment of Canine Osteosarcoma

Glad to hear you might participate in a study. I like knowing that we are participating in cancer research that might find a cure for this awful disease. Imagine that!

I'm not sure if it's the same study but I do know of dogs (Greyhounds) who are involved in some study with OSU. If you have a look in the health and medical section of the forums at http://www.greytalk.com you may be able to see more info there.

Thanls for the info. I emailed the contact at Ohio to see if they have done this study in other areas and to see what info they could give me.
