my little French Bulldog, but we are a year post-amp and still going strong! She did chemo for a couple months, then we stopped at the end; it was just too much for her. But she has done great, still best friends with my son with the amputated leg, who is not doing so hot, but still, they are happy together.
I never get over here anymore, it seems, but wanted to get an update to those who remember, and yes, she still wears her special little harness that was gifted to her!
I hope all of you and your dogs are doing well!
Alicia

I remember Pixie! So glad to hear she is doing so well. Such a cute little face. Drop by more often - we love the success stories.

Hi Alicia,
I think about you guys often, I was wondering how Pixie was doing. It's great that she is at a year- and still using the harness- both of those things make me smile!
I'm sorry your son is not doing better- but I'm glad his best friend is by his side.
Do stop by every now and then if you can...

Hi Alicia!
I remember you guys too. I've wondered several times how your family was, you, Pixie, and your son. You stuck in my mind so much because we had had a human amputation in the family before as well. I hate hearing your son isn't doing well. I'll keep you guys in my prayers, hopefully it's something that can be worked through and he'll come out stronger.
Give Pixie and your son a hug from the tripawds community. If I remember correctly your son is in his early-mid 20's? So giving him a hug from the community may seem odd to him....but do it anyway.

Ack! I feel bad not coming back and posting more! My son has MRSA and now also a form of TB that is in the tissue, not the lungs, and on long term antibiotic. He had his limb revised in Oct, and had two more surgeries for abdominal abscesses from the TB. Whew. Hopefully on the way up now.
Pixie is just a nut. I guess this whole thing has slowed her down a bit, she tends to sleep a bit more, but I really think that is because of the energy she has to use to get around on three legs. She races the yard chasing the others still, but one time around now, not two. I think she is really happy and having a good life.
She now has a new brother/friend! We now have a 18 week old English Bulldog and they adore each other. Or they did until last week when he realized he had hormones and needed to….have his way, if you know what I mean, with Pixie. She was not impressed. So he bought himself a one way ticket to the vet Tuesday to have those little balls of hormones removed. That is what you get if you mess with Pixie!
I do too!
I'm so sorry about your son though! We'll send him pawsitive thoughts since everything with Pixie is going so well.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Alicia it's great to hear from you! Of course we remember you and Pixie. Don't feel badly about not posting more often, the impawtant thing is to be with Pixie, your son and your new family member Chester Molester!
For our new Tripawd pawrents, here is Pixie's story. In a nutshell...
Nearly one year ago (!), Pixie had a difficult recovery to say the least! She made Alicia nuts and wouldn't settle down long enough to heal. She refused to eat, and was diagnosed with Mast Cell tumor cancer. Alicia, you were told she had it in her lymph node? And she's still here! Yipeeee!!!
Thank you for coming here to update. Pixie's story is proof pawsitive that there IS hope even after a terrible pathology report.
Yay Pixie!

Hi Jerry! Yes, the lymph node was "chock-full" of cancer, as the vet told me, and hew said it looked very suspicious past the node, after he removed it. I had the new guy in a few weeks ago and said hey, almost a year and she is still here! And he knocked me on the head and said "No, NO! Don't say it, don't mention it! She is cured in our minds so hush!" I love my vet. Whenever I am there (a lot with all the pets) and I take her, he tells her to sit, then shake. She has always shaken paws, but with the one that was removed. He realized last year if you told her to shake, she tried to lift the other leg and fell on her face. He finds it highly amusing and so do I. And no, it does not hurt her in the least! Her little snub tail is going a mile a minute, she really loves her vet! I think she knows it is a joke and likes him so much she does it. Really funny to see. He always calls her Wobbler now...I think he may have forgotten her real name!
She is definitely a miracle girl! Cancer-free all the way...yay!!!
We'll be sure to always let others know that if Pixie can thrive after a terrible diagnosis, there is hope!
