The vet thinks the cough is from the tube down his throat. He’s been on cough medicine/throat soothing medicine for 24 hours and he hasn’t coughed!
My grandpa had to come check on him today while I was in class because I saw on the camera Max had gotten tangled up in his big blanket… Shouldn’t have left that in his cage. So he will only get 1 baby blanket from now on. Thank goodness for cameras!
I scheduled his appointment for getting his stitches out- next Tuesday! I’m so ready and excited for Max to get them out. I know he is ready!
Thank you guys for the tips! You guys rock!
YAY....cough is better and cause is determined!
When I quickly glanced back to see when Max had his amp, I mistakenly thought it was June 24th...your first post. Had I paid better attention it would have made perfect sense that his throat was irritated from the intubation as this was still close to the actual surgery. My bad!!
Give your Grand Pa a hug from us for being such a good Grand Dog to Max! Glad he got him out of that "big blanket monster"!🤣
Hugs

Went to the vet for a checkup!
Max is doing very well! He can now come out of his cage a lot more, but he will still be sedated until he can get his stitches out.
He has to keep his stitches in for another week unfortunately. We will all be glad when he can get the stitches out!!
A good check up is always a great event to celebrate!!! CONGRATULATIONS!
Yeah, getting him off sedation and the stitches out will a difference for Max in so many ways😎
Thanks for the update👍

it also makes me feel good that 3 doctors said that he needed amputation due to his injury.
I just always worry i’m not doing the best thing for my baby- but the doctor said that it was the only other thing we could do besides fuse the bones in the leg together to create an elbow. So i’m glad I chose this in the end
Max got his stitches out!!
He’s doing so good! He got a new orthopedic bed today and he’s absolutely in love with it. He can get in and out of it really well.
He’s well on the road to recovery. He has a meeting with his trainer Monday to get him better leash trained with his leg gone now, and he also is going to be doing some rehabilitation maybe!
WHEEEE! This is such a big step! Congrats! Doesn't it feel great to move ahead with life?!
Let us know what the trainer recommends for leash walking. Tripawds move faster than other dogs because they have to keep that momentum going (especially front legged amputees) so it will be interesting to see what they recommend. I'd love to know for my own knowledge!
