12 days post Right front leg on our 13 year old Basset and we are so proud of her. The first few days she didnt try to get up. She didnt pee for a little over 30 hours and the Tripawd community gave me advice. Thank you so much. We went to the ER vet and she peed on their floor. My husband and both about cried we were so happy. The third day, Easter, she got up on her own, and with the assistance if her Coodeo vest, went outside to sit on her coolaroo on the deck. She didnt poop for 7 days but we read on here alot of information sobwe weren't worried and my vet and the surgeon had checked in and they werent worried. The Coodeo vest has been wonderful and can be used for front or back amputations. She keeps it on 24/7, and it doesnt bitjer her scar and helped keep the cold pacs on. Being a basset, they are stubborn and she doesn't want assistance, but we help where she needs it and have runners everywhere. She has her spunk and is doing great. We go back for stiches removal and oncology plan in 2 days. We had doubts before, and worries after before she was getting up that we made the right choice but know 100% that we did. For anyone getting ready for surgery or just post, this site is a Godsend and trust that you know your dog and will make the right choice for them. Thank you for all of the advice and information Tripawd family, I would have been a wreck without all of the information available.
