Just a note on the 50+ group meeting.  If folks are planning to fly with their fur companions, it needs to be during the fall/winter months.  The airlines will not fly our fur friends once the temperatures get above 70 degrees.  I found this out when I tried to fly Duke to us when we decided to adopt him.  It was May, and Texas was already to warm to qualify.  We had to drive to Ohio and pick him up.

I would LOVE to do something like that, but it would really depend on how Miss T is getting along, and how Bob (YB as Diane calls him) is doing also.

Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Well, you know in all seriousness I won't be making the trip, but I would sure be there in spirit...heck, I can't even get down the road to Mill Valley as MUCH as I really really want to....(don't suppose we could move it to santa rosa, rohnert park?  sebastopol???  where my truck wouldn't have to be towed too far????!!!  just kidding....I will be in Mill Valley in spirit TOO!!)

I actually wouldn't fly my dog...I know a lot of people in shows and the horror stories I have heard keep me from even wanting to have a dog shipped to me (watch fate get me here and me have to eat my words)...and I wonder if it is a good idea to ship a doggie with cancer?  I know for Magic he would most likely have a fear induced heart attack.....and so would I!!

But I'll cheer the rest of you on!!

I just bought a water bottle from admin's link!  I couldn't wait until Diane was giving hers away!   (admin, you can thank me later when you get your 15 cent affiliate payout! It's probably more like 10 cents since I purchased the smallest one!)

I look like I'm going into combat with all my clipped accessories walking a 21lb terrier mix:  cell phone, treat bag, citronella spray and now the water bottle!  I just have to remember to not wear elastic waisted sweat pants or they may fall to my knees!

I always wanted a devoted topic to "Anything Goes" - but using 'Magic's Vet Visit' seems to work just fine!  It's like having a convention in Diane's living room already!   Some poor newbie coming in is going to think "Wow, poor Magic...look at all the posts devoted to his vet visit!" !!!

Speaking of conventions...seriously - who lives in the Convention Capital of the World????  a.k.a Entertainment Capital of the World, a.k.a. Gambling Capital of the World a.k.a. Foreclosure Capital of the World, a.k.a. Where Fortunes are Made and Lost Capital of the World? ..........Meeeeeeeeeeee!  (and Sadie's mom lives in Pahrump - just 30 some miles away!)

And not to out do Diane's lovely offer of pitching tents outside...but I have lots of room inside with real beds! And the best part, I'm not a clean freak like she is!  You wouldn't have to worry about me putting a pee pad under you if you have an accident!big-grin

P.S. Shanna, I posted prior to knowing about Trouble and thought about edited my remark but then I said,... Nah! little-devil

Loved the radio active Jerry! What a sport he was!

And Jim we knew you lurking in the shadows!  Just wait until we start having peri and menopausal talks!wink

I'll bring a case of canned Tripe to share!  winker

Honestly, this off topic topic has been so much fun - imagine the fun we could have if we were all together!

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Would you get the 15 oz or 26 oz?

Ruthie is barfing...I think it's the Palladia.  Anyone had problems with it?  She's handled all the chemo and Temodar just fine.

The more water the better! We got the big one for Jerry. He could easily drink the whole thing at once, and Wyatt slops half the water outside the bowl when drinking!

Tripawd Power Large Sigg Water Bottle

That's why the 1 Litre Tripawd Power Sigg water bottle is a handy compliment to the Water Rover! winker

Sent you two emails Pat...first one is long and about a combo spa day then I got the second one...Maybe for the drug and Ruthie's barfing, you might want to make a separate topic so she doesn't get lost in the funny stuff??  Especially for the Palladia? I also  asked you if you give her cerenia?

I'm getting the big bottle and I haven't seen it yet that's how bad I am...wonder how long it takes to get here....

We could start a weekly anything goes topic so we don't wreck anything someone is trying to seriously get handled?  and just let it sit there to be this that and everything  and then start a new one the next week?  ADMIN and MODERATORS...how would that work?  Or rather Would that work ok?  The reason this one works is cuz it isn't off somewhere but it was part of the ongoing discussion....But it has been fun and informative and has so many different things in it I think that is why it works....

Hey Diane,

That sounds like an excellent idea - it's sometimes fun to just let loose and share about other things in our lives besides our #1 priority tripawd (don't get me wrong - I never get tired of talking about my tripawd or listening to all the different stories/experiences of other tripawds and their pawrents.) This thread has provided a lot of comic relief which is great and which we all could use all the time.

Now going back to 50+ Club, I was reading about several of you who are shy of 6 months  turning 50....what's that all about??? So I've thought about a couple of new rules...1) if you graduated from high school in the 70's than you qualify to be a member of the club.  And 2) for those you between the ages of 45 - 49,   you qualify because you're closer to 50 now than you are to 40.  How does that sound?  I bet we'll have more members than you can count on your paws, fingers and toes.

As for the Tripawd convention, that would be a total blast - and I was going to suggest Vegas before Comet's mom did but she beat me to the punch.  Wherever it is, this would be so cool to meet everyone.   Maybe one of these days we can make this dream become a reality.  So Tana, I would suggest you start to get on it right away! laughing And if you need any help I nominate Comet's Mom!

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

A convention would be great ... depends what happens in the way of an actual paying job in the next couple of months

Hey you could move in with Comet and plan it from Tripawd's Satellite Office in Vegas!

Ok, first things first, let's find you a job and then we'll plan the convention. What kind of work are you looking for?

Wow - you "guys" are fantastic ! Really.

If I could pack up my bags and move to Vegas - I would be there tomorrow - thanks for offering Comet's home ! That's very generous.  wink

Yes - I was thinking that Vegas would be the logical place to host a convention, too - looks like we are already on the same page !

We'll have to do some serious planning - and we'll need a committee. I would love to be involved in organizing this. As I am a Canadian - and Vegas is - of course - in the States - obviously Comet's mom would be the logical Co-Organizer !

Are we seriously thinking that we should go ahead with it ??? I'm excited - lots of ideas are coming into my head !

Questions to be asked would be:

1) are we wanting to make it a convention where we bring our dogs (if we want to)? (I would not be bringing Sophie - as I would have to fly her - and I don't think she or I could handle her in an aircraft).

2) if so - we will need to have dog-friendly lodging and dog-friendly convention space.

As for me finding a paying job -

I think I may have created a job for myself - I have to do a little investigating - to see if it is feasible or not. I'm thinking that I'll open an EBay Company. Basically - I need to find work that provides me with flexible hours - preferable my own company - or a partnership, something like that. I don't want to go back to office work if I don't have to - I've been there done that for many, many years. If I have to start a second career - it might as well be something that I will enjoy doing.

The other thing is that I have to stay in this area - around Edmonton or St. Albert, Alberta, because I share custody of my son with my ex-husband.

So - if anyone has any great ideas - please feel free to forward them to me. I need to make all the money I can, of course ! The more, the better.

Sorry – Ruthie – I've had no experience with any of the drugs you mentioned so I can't offer any informed opinion.

I hope you're feeling much better very soon.

Ok, I'm gonna play ModPawd here and butt-inski....can we start a new topic somewhere for this? Oh thank you!!!

Meanwhile, yeah Tana go for it! Do your research, talk to people who've done it and follow your heart, you can't go wrong as long as you plan wisely. There's lots of info/workshops out there on how to start an eBay store. Yeay!

Wow am I late to this thread. It's been a tough month for Fortis and posting doesn't come easy for me during these times.

I pray Magic is well and having mostly good days.

I must say, I have really gotten a laugh while reading through these post. Whats this about an over the 50's club and a Tripawd convention. I'm at least 20 years from this unspeakable decade. If possible though I would really appreciate an age waiver. I'm really mature for my age and feel I have a lot to contribute to this club. After all I watched every minute of Watergate! big-grin

A convention in Vegas. I would love that.  Fortis wouldn't be able to make the trip but with all my winnings I would make it up to him.

Go Comet's Mom!! Make it happen.

FYI, the H20 thing, Fortis has a Palisades Pack by Ruffwear. It has a built in hydration system, room for kibbles, and lots of cool features for a day or multi week hike. A very sweet pack indeed.
