So sorry to hear that you guys have to wait! Chloe didn't have an enlarged lymphnode in her knee above her tumor, but they did an aspirate of the lymph which came back inconclusive. That was no help... After amputation though they took a lymphnode out of that knee and sent it in for a biopsy.
I understand how nerve racking it is to wait for the results! Since mine was done after the amputation, I was surely hoping it hadn't spread since she had already undergone the surgery! Luckily it came back negative and she is now cancer free (soft tissue cancerous tumor).
We are hoping for the best for Madison!!!!

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
Good news! The lymph node biopsy came back negative for cancer! I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and puppy prayers. The amputation is now rescheduled for the 27th. Poor baby, I don't know if she will ever feel pawisitve about the vet again. Any suggestions for getting doggies over vet fear? We have been loading Madison in the car for rides every chance we get, so she doesn't associate riding in the car with the vet. We have a really great vet who loves Madison to pieces, so it breaks my heart! I will continue to keep you all posted after we (finally!) have the surgery.
No advice on the vet thing, Chloe did NOT want to go back with the technician to get her staples removed. I think she thought she was going to lose another leg or something
Glad to hear the lymphnode biopsy came back negative!!! YAY!!! We hope her surgery goes well just over a week from now!!!
My advice: rest now because when you take Madison home, you probably won't sleep much the first few nights.

Woooo hoooo!!!! Congrats!
I think you're doing all you can to help her get over her fear. When she's in the car, feed her LOTS of treats and maybe even take her for ICE CREAM.

Update on Madison- she had her amputation surgery yesterday and everything went well. The vet said she in pain due to the nature of the surgery, but they are keeping her heavily medicated. She thinks we will get to bring Maddie home on Thursday. Thank you for thinking about us as we go through the next few days and weeks in her recovery.
Good luck with Madison's recovery! Thinking pawsitive thoughts for you and she!

Great to hear that Madison's surgery went well. Definitely get as much rest as you can before you bring her home. These next 2 weeks are going to be a roller coaster ride as I'm sure you've read from others. The best advice I got was take it one day at a time, know that all those emotions you're going through is completely normal and Madison will make a full recovery (even though there will be days when you won't think so). Also you might want to have her wear a t-shirt during her recovery to protect her incision and prevent her from scratching. We found this worked great vs. wearing a cone which makes them feel even worse.
Good luck with everything! Madison will do great - just you wait and see. We are keeping our paws crossed for a smooth and speedy recovery! Let us know how she's doing.
Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
It is not uncommon to stay at the vet multiple nights. Chloe had to stay for two nights, which actually worked out for the best because I was able to prep the house and get some rest before she came home!!
Glad to hear the surgery went well and we hope you get to see Madison on Thursday!

Whew! That's great news. And yes, like Chloe said, the extra night at the vet's can be very beneficial.
Just keep remembering that the pain of the recovery isn't nearly as bad as the pain of that bum leg. You might have some downs with the ups, but things DO get better after a couple of weeks.
Let us know how we can help OK?
