Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since surgery and she is getting her stitches out. We'll also be meeting with an oncologist.
The biopsy came back, it is osteosarcoma. The vet said they rate aggressiveness on a 1-5 scale, and hers was a 1, the lowest. The lymph node showed little to no spread. The vet is confident that some chemo should prevent it from recurring.
The week was hard for me because I had some major work events across the country. My husband took great care of her and setup a camera so I could check in on them from time to time.
She's now able to hop up on the bed and the couch. We do help her down however. She's not eating completely normal, and seems to be over her dry kibble after being spoiled for a while. I'm mixing a little wet food in and at times hand feeding her. She's also pretty sleepy, but she is 13... She is also now comfortable laying on her right side.
Well sad that you got the diagnosis but at least it is a low-grade! Shelby was a picky eater after her stay at the hospital. I think the food was better there!!! I did mix some chicken stock in Shelby's food and she seemed to enjoy that and then I started cooking for her. She LOVED that!!!
But I am glad Madison is healing and recovering well. All good signs!!!!
Hugs,

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Doing a happy dance to celebrate the very low grade on the aggressiveness of Madison's cancer! Really, I think that is pretty wonderful news. Sure it would be nice to be "not cancer", but given the range of what this could be, I say it is a win when combined with how well she is recovering!
Go Team Madison!

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
