AHHH - So glad Maddie is doing well -
When I when to pick up Riley - I thought I would fall apart like I did before surgery - but when I heard the trays falling and people yelling and saw Riley bursting thru the door on 3 legs and running to me and slobbered me with wet kisses - I just sat on the floor and smiled and hugged and petted her until she calmed down...It was wonderful...
Keep us posted....

Hope this works. Here is Maddie on her ride home. She did well and is currently a little more active than I thought she would be, all though her moving is pretty slow. She's mostly pivoting 🙂 like she's not quite sure what to do. But she is pretty stoned, so that may have something to do with it.
If this picture doesn't work. I'll try it again 🙂

Can't seem to make it work.
You pasted the link to your Wall Photos page, not the image itself. Next time right click to copy the image file location, not the page on which it is displayed.
Maddie's incision looks nice and clean, she seems to be resting peacefully.

I'm tired and relieved all at the same time. I know we still have recovering to go, but I'm so happy the surgery part is over.
She is still so dopey and I guess will be a little fuzzy for several days more as I give her the tramadol the Vet sent home with us.
I know she's not as young as Cocoa and it may take a little more out of her, but I think in a week or so, she'll be good as new.
And I'm sure even better than she was before.
Thanks everyone. It is an awesome feeling knowing that a group like this is here to help me through this with my girl Maddie.
Nothing speaks like experience!
Thank you all so much 🙂
Maddie looks really good. When her fur grows back you will be amazed at how most people won't even realize she is missing a leg when they first see her. Especially if they are watching her run. I'm so glad the surgery went well and life can begin again.

Awwww! Love the pic!
I'm thankful it's all going well!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Maddie is resting and recovering. She is chilling out on her bed in front of the window.
She is doing well, has a good appetite. She has already had a BM, a couple of hours ago. She actually wanting to chase a squirrel on one of her trip out to the bathroom.
She accidentally bumped into my leg with her stump and yelped in pain. I felt very bad, and now I know to walk on the other side of her.
Thanks for everyones help and encouragement through this.
It can take a while for the stump to lose its tenderness. Travis Ray banged his pretty hard about three months post amputation and screamed like I have rarely heard a dog scream. He was in significant pain and we ended up giving him Tramadol for the couple of days it took him to recover completely. Now he can bang and slide around on it with no problems.

Kelly, you absolutely have to tell us about the pees and poops! We celebrate everything around here! Extra goodies tonight 'cause Maddie pooped! Yay!
