Hooray! I called to find out when I could come visit Mack today and was a little panicked when they put me on hold saying the doctor wanted to speak with me! But she came on the line and said that Mack was doing so well they wanted to discharge him tonight. He is eating, peeing and trying to walk (with the help of the sling) and is handling the pain with oral meds only.
I'm sitting here waiting for my husband to get home so we can drive up there together. I wanted someone to sit in the back with Mack so he doesn't try to get off the seat or anything. Plus, I'm a little nervous because of all the times southern California decides to have crappy weather this is NOT a good time! It is POURING - and not California pouring either! I grew up in the south with thunderstorms and all so normally I make fun of my neighbors for whining about the rain here but this is ridiculous. But, c'est la vie! At least our baby gets to come home! Wish us luck! I'll try to post some pics in Mack's blog tomorrow! Good night
Yea for coming home!
Hopefully Mack will continue with a smooth recovery. I know we have all warned you though to be prepared for some down time after he gets home.
It's been pouring here too (SF Bay Area) although we have a break now. I too laugh when people here complain about the rain- I spent several years on the north coast, not quite Seattle, but pretty wet. I think our next break is next week...
Good luck with your first night at home- looking forward to an update tomorrow.

HOORAY! FANTASTIC NEWS MACK!
The dreaded, "wait on the line, the vet wants to talk to you!" message! And it's good news! I told my vet to never, ever, ever do that to me again when it's good news! Never...unless you want to call 911 from the heart attack I will have!
Your next journey on the road to recovery is going to be a little difficult so feel free to come over and vent!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Never mind just testing...post

Yay Mack! Grab that boogie board and surf on home.
And Cynthia's right; when you're muttering bad words up to your ankles in rain water while Mack decides whether or not he wants to pee, think of all that crazy bulldog love!
Shari and Dakota (and Evelyn, of course)
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
Thank you all for the words of encouragement! Thankfully the rain has dropped off to typical southern California levels...which a girl like me considers barely above a drizzle! 😉
Mack is home. Rozee has officially established herself as a monkeybutt and had to be separated to avoid anymore knockdowns. Mack has eaten, drank water, napped and went outside to pee! Kinsey and Donny clapped and cheered for him! He is now sleeping soundly.
I know we will be facing some rollercoaster style ups & downs over the next few days, but right now we are flying high! So, so glad to have him home. Thanks again for all the support!

Happy to hear Mack's home! Sounds like he's doing great. Having a resident monkeybutt can be helpful because it will give Mack motivation to heal faster to kick her....well, monkeybutt
Lisa, Ranger, Spirit Sadie and Athena (our monkeydog)
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.
