Our PITBULL/mix, Luna, just had her right rear leg amputated on Friday March 6th, 2020. It’s day 2 post op and she’s surprisingly doing well! Our only concern is that she hasn’t pooped since about 5pm on March 6th when I brought her home. She’s doing well eating, drinking, and walking (even on stairs). Reading through this forum sounds like it’ll take a few days til she poops. I didn’t want to give her anything to help with her bowels as she’s taking antibiotics that could cause loose stools. Guess I’ll have to wait and see!
Hi Luna and Family! It’s so pawesome that things are going pretty well. You are correct, pooping sometimes takes a few days. You can try moving things along by adding some canned pumpkin to her food, which shouldn’t cause runny poop.
What was the reason for the amputation?

Hopefully, your Luna has taken care of the problem. Our dog, Ginger, didn't pee until 3 days after amputation and didn't poop until 7 days after amputation. She wouldn't eat pumpkin or several other home remedies. Our vet finally had us use a suppository, and it took are of it.
Hope your Luna is doing well!
