Shooter just had his 3rd chemo treatment with vinblastine. His WBC is stellar, but his platelet count is down around 125. Does anyone know of a supplement that would help with this? He is currently getting Immunity Plus and this is a common side effect for this drug, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to check. He has a total of 5 treatments left, but the last four will be every other week instead of every week.
Other than that, he is a rock star during this stage. No fatigue or lethargy, his appetite is out of this world and no nausea or diarrhea.
Thanks in advance!
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.

Sooooo glad you are handling everything so well! You are a ROCK STAR getting ready to make it in the big time!!! Keep on becoming the legend that you are!!
Of course, behind every super star rock star is a great Manager.....good job MOM!

That count is not too low so I would not worry about any supplements. He is not having any problems making platelets it is just that the chemo destroys them a little faster than he can make them right now. There is no risk of bleeding until the count gets below 60,000 and even then most dogs do not have a problem.
Tazzie would often go as low as 25,000 after carboplatin so I usually ended up giving her chemo every 3 1/2 weeks instead of every 21 days.
