Always call the vet if you're worried, that's why you pay them.
I didn't do IV chemo so I'm sorry I can't help you but I know others will chime in. Give London a hug from us.

Abby never had that problem either, but I do seem to recall someone else maybe posting that same question not that long ago. I might be remembering wrong...maybe it wasn't so much labored breathing as some heavy panting.
Sorry I can't be more helpful. Probably best to call the vet and see what they think!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Jackie is probably thinking about my recent post on Zeus. I wouldn't have called it "labored" by any means. While sitting still he was fine, but with any activity he seemed to pant more quickly than he had done in the past. I posted asking if it might be the Carboplatin building up in his system (it is cumulative) causing him to tire more easily. Fortunately, that issue resolved after a few days and I do believe that it was related to his chemo. But again, his symptom was that he panted more readily after activity, it wasn't labored at all and it subsided with a few minutes rest.
If London's breathing seems labored in any way, I would suggest seeing your vet to make sure what is going on.
Good luck!

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

gayle had a few really 'rugged' days after chemo treatments #3 and #4 - rough breathing, panting, etc... but not for the first or second (or fifth). we did doxorubicin. we agree with all of the other posts, check with your vet, it's important to stay on top of this and know what's going on. paws crossed this will pass quickly and london will rebound. let us know!!
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
How's London doing today? We hope she's feeling good again!

Not to scare you; but if it happens again, call the vet. Spencer had some labored breathing 1.5 weeks after his 3rd carboplatin treatment. It started on Sunday; but wasn't major. I planned to call the vet on Monday; but things went down hill quickly for him that Monday morning. If I am ever in the same position again with future dogs I will call the vet for something like that...
Jac and Angel Spencer. Spencer was 5.25 years old. He fought a grade 3 fibrosarcoma, started on his shoulder. Left front leg amputated in August 2011. 15 weeks of chemo finished 12/22/11 (mytox and adria). Lung mets found on x-rays 12/28/11. Started carboplatin 1/6/12. Went to Heaven on 2/27/12. I miss him like crazy every day. See his blog here: http://spencer.tripawds.com/
Woo hoo! Yay for London!
Jac, thanks for sharing the sad circumstances with Spencer's breathing, it's good info to know, I'll try to remember that in case this comes up again (hopefully not!).
