Katniss' amputated leg analysis came back from Ortho at Auburn University vet teaching hospital. Here's what Ortho told me after talking to Oncology (so it's my retelling of what they told me). We go to Oncology on Wed.
They feel good about it, but because of where they had to amputate around the lymph nodes, there is a chance that some of the cancer cells could have been "set free." No way to test for that. Their recommendations will likely be: 1. Keep an eye on her and do a check up with Oncology every 3 months. 2. Do three rounds/injections of chemo treatment just to clear out anything that could have gotten "loose"
I'm inclined to do #2, but again - I need to meet with Oncology.
What all questions do I need to be sure to ask? Help appreciated in advance.
She has such a great vet team! Having a plan makes a huge difference and it's smart you're getting all the information gathered before deciding what to do.
