An update on Ivan. Since Ivan had his left rear knee operated on November 4, with a TPLO reconstruction, and after doing hydrotherapy and chiropractic adjustments, he ruptured the right rear leg cranial cruciate ligament. Sadly, lvan's chest xray this week came back showing lung mets, so we won't be doing another TPLO.
We have now switched to oral chemo in hopes of slowing the tumors down. The first drug, Cytoxan, we decided to discontinue at this point, because Ivan nees to urinate every 6 hours on this drug, and the pain in his right knee is slowing his desire to go outside, and he's not drinking much water. We are now trying Leukeran, which doesn't pose the risk of bladder damage.
We are taking it a day at a time, and will try acupuncture. Thanks, everyone, for all the support. Ivan continues to wag his tail and roll over when anyone comes near, knowing he's likely to get a belly rub. He's a trooper.

It seems like Ivan has had more than his share of bad luck! I'm glad that he is such a trooper and I hope that he is still feeling okay depite the second ACL rupture. Is he able to take an NSAID like Metacam daily? This might also help to slow down the cancer, and I would also consider Artemisinin (see info under "Eating Healthy" forum). I have looked into this herb quite a bit lately and it appears very safe and might also help buy some more time.

We are so sorry to hear about all that Ivan is going through. He really must be a trooper. Hang on to the good moments and cherish every tail wag. Our prayers are with you.
