Hi,
I'm still waiting for the results of Hyde's biopsy to come back, but while I wait I've been researching up a storm about things that I can expect for certain treatments. A friend sent me a study by the University of Pennsylvania, researching Im-Yunity for Dogs.
It says "used as an adjunct health supplement to maintain optimal immune health after receiving chemotherapy."
I wondered....
- Has anyone used this supplement with their dog? Have you heard of anyone using it?
- Have you heard of anyone opting not to use chemo and used this instead?
- How did your dog do on the supplement, did you see any noticeable changes (good/bad?)
Overall, what's your experience like and would you recommend it others to use?

Hi,
Yes, I am "mom to Shelby" and Shelby has been on it for about a month. We did not start once we found out about Shelby's cancer so Shelby had been receiving chemo for about 4 - 5 months BEFORE we started the mushroom therapy. Her vet approved it and so far I haven't noticed any adverse reactions. Her vet is of the mindset (as am I) it can't hurt so why not try if it can help.
Sorry I can't provide more information about success but Shelby is holding strong. She has hemagiosarcoma and is almost 6 months post-diagnosis (however was probably cancer-ridden for a few months prior). I will say this - depending on the size of your dog, it can get pricey. Shelby is 22 - 23 pounds and takes 3 pills a day.
I don't know if this works with osteosarcoma.
Hope this is helpful!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that Shelby is holding on strong! I'm waiting to hear about biopsy results, so I'll know for sure what type of cancer and how aggressive once those come back. I'm in the process of finding an oncologist (my vet will recommend someone too) and just looking into what's out there and what's been working.
I will share his results and what our plans are when we know a little more. His surgery was on Tuesday 3/11. I'm hoping that we'll have results tomorrow or Tuesday.
Thanks again.
