Heather and Spirit Zeus - Our life changing journey…from the earth to the heavens…one day at a time…always together
Now the hardest thing is letting go.
I have been on this forum numerous times in the last week wanting to say things to people. I wanted to tell Zara how sorry I am to hear about Zeus and all the other people who have written about upcoming surgeries etc. but I just couldn't. Our wonderful Henry is gone, we had to take him to the doctor Thursday afternoon. It just all happened so fast. My husband and I can't believe he is gone, it is just so sad.
When we started this whole thing (amputation was June 4) we were told if we did amputation and chemo the average length of survival was 12 months. We never ever thought that Henry would be in the 30% that didn't make it that long. When the cancer was found in his lungs Oct. 1 we were told 6 to 8 weeks. The doctor at Ohio State on Oct. 10 gave him 30 days. It spread so fast he didn't even make 30 days. So what I wanted to say is that yes be positive, we were. We talked about how he would get along in the snow ( he was 92 pounds). Every outcome is not the same. I just think people should know about the dogs like Henry who are in that 30%.
We realize that we did everything we could for Henry. He was such a wonderful dog. What a hard thing to do.

Wendy,
I'm am really sorry for your loss of Henry. He looked like a giant teddy bear.. it's not fair as to why your time with him was cut short. This monster, we call cancer, proves that despite even the Dr's estimated time given that there are no guarantees. I know you bought him a few extra months of a pain free life with the surgery. Again, I'm am sorry to hear the news of his passing. I'm sure if love was enough to keep our beloved fur babies alive they would all still be here.

The world has lost such a handsome warrior, but the heavens have gained a new angel. His spirit will shine on forever, and stay by your side, always. Our hearts go out to you, we are so, so very sorry.
