My boxer had his front right leg removed about six weeks ago...he his great. Happy, mobile, full of energy, but he has a hard bony lump where the leg was...larger than it should be? Anyone know what this could be? Scar tissure, Slight deformation with the adapting of using only one front leg? It doesn´t bother him...should I worry?

My Daisy is a front amp also.  How much of his leg did they remove?  Did they take part of the shoulder too?  Daisy's leg was removed at the joint.  We were not dealing with cancer but rather a joint destroyed by arthritis so the vet didn't have to worry about getting "clean margins".  She has a bump where her leg was.  It fits in the palm of my hand when I pet her there.

Maybe that is what you are feeling?  Maybe it is more pronounced now that the swelling has gone down.  Just a thought.  I would check with your vet to see if it is normal.  I'm always pestering my vets now because I have become such an obsessed worry wart!

Glad your pup has recovered well and back to his normal self!

I think Daisy's Mom is correct; that could just be the bone you are feeling. It's something to bring up with your vet next time you go in. And it's OK to be vigilant, you're a good pawrent for doing so.

Ah thanks guys! Yes it is just like Daisy's Mum describes...a bump that fits the palm of my hand...or maybe a bit smaller. Yes they did take shoulder blade too. I wondered too if it might be a bit arthriticky.

I also wondered if it was the swelling going down as the area round the scar has completely gone down.In fact, now the fur is back, you can´t even see a scar!

Thanks guys for your comments!

Must try and post a photo of the boy!
