oh boy, yes, I know how you feel, Cadence's Mom. I can't seem to get too excited about the holidays either. I dread doing my xmas cards because I have to write about how Abby's fight has taken a bad turn. It is SUCH a roller coaster. At the same time, I still have some hope that things could turn around for her. And I have moments of being ok with it if they don't. She doesn't know that she is getting the fuzzy end of the lollypop. Neither does Cadence. They just know they love us and love life and want to be with us.
Of course, I also have my moments of total melt-down freak-out crying jags where I wonder what I'm going to do without her when she's gone. But then, none of us is guaranteed tomorrow, so I get over my little freak out and try to move on. And fight! We are not giving up easy!
If anybody knows what you are going through, it's all of us here strapped in on the same ride.
Having said all that... I have a very good feeling that Cadence's bump will turn out to be nothing. You've got the power of Team Tripawd's Pawsitive Thinking behind you - and that is some powerful stuff!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. I hope the bump turns out to be no big deal- and that you feel silly for worrying... if you know what I mean.
Maggie had numerous tumors- I can't tell you how many times I flipped her over to check out a lump I found on her belly- just to find one of her tits yet again!
I don't think you every get over wondering, and worrying a little (or a medium amount, or OK, A LOT)- the trick is not to let it run your life.
And I know that knowledge it power. I also know that you can handle whatever you find- because you have made it this far on this F***ing cancer roller coaster! Excuse my language (or at least my ***), I just spent 30 min talking with a friend who just lost her pup to cancer (not a tripawd).
Good luck tomorrow. Let us know as soon as you know something.

Hi all, just wanted to thank you first of all for all of your words of encouragement. Cadence and I both felt the pawsitive mojo power going on these past few days from you all as we anxiously awaited her getting the test on the lump. She sends her licks to all of you in thanks. Well, here is the medical summary of Cadence's visit yesterday:
Fine needle aspirates of the dermal mass revealed small amounts of fluid and thick white material. In-house review of this sample was most consistent with a benign cyst, however, the sample was submitted for evaluation by a pathologist. These results should be available in 1-2 days and we will call as soon as we receive them. The dermal mass be inflamed for a day or two due to the aspiration today.
So we don't know the exact results yet until it gets back from pathology but it does look like it would be a benign cyst. it was a little bump and before the appointment I even marked her fur over the area with a red dry erase marker so the Dr. could find it easily. I kept loosing where it was which is why I finally marked it. Also they did an all over check up and felt her abdomen. They weighed her and she actually gained a little weight. They also reviewed some X-rays she had taken on the 11th of last month and that was great too. We had opted out of the 6th chemo (which is what yesterday's visit was supposed to be for originally) and ended up keeping the appointment to have her lump looked at. Funny how things work out. Poor thing ended up getting poked with a needle more times than what she would have had for her chemo! 6 times poked instead of just once. But as usual she is a trooper and now we will carry on with a good diet, the supplements and lots of hugs and love. The chemo chapter is over and hopefully no more lumps after this one! I will update again when the final results come in.

glad cadence has finished her chemo, and it sounds like the bump is 'just a bump', which is great news!!! sounds like you both could use a medicinal nap!!
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Pawesome! It's always good to double check, lab tests like that are so relatively inexpensive. We're betting it's just a bump too. Yipee!
Congratulations on moving on to a new chapter in your Tripawds journey. We're tagging along, so look out!

Glad to hear that all the worry was for naught! But I know how it is... And now, Cadence needs a prize for being done with chemo! Like maybe a trip to the beach or a burger or something really special.
Way to go, Cadence. Kick. Cancer. Butt.

Yea for Candence!! And done with chemo too!!
Having black dogs I have had to resort to trimming fur when I find bumps. If I do it right I can still find the bump and the coat doesn't look too bad- however Tani did look a little moth eaten when I found 3 bumps at the same time.
Karen and the pugapalooza
Hi all! Just wanted to report the happy news! Cadence's Dr. just called me and told me (in layman's terms) that the bump is benign and looks like a follicular cyst. They also palpated her abdomen and weighed her and all else is well. She even gained a tiny bit of weight. Yah! Extra turkey treats today.
Here are the results with the medical jargon for all of you science geeks. hehehehe
MICROSCOPIC FINDINGS: SUPPURATIVE INFLAMMATION, KERATIN DEBRIS, MATURE ADIPOSE TISSUE AND ABUNDANT LIPID
Also they added:
While this is likely a benign cystic lesion, excision and histopathology are necessary both for resolution and to further define it. Mature adipocytes and abundant lipid presumably represents perilesional adipose tissue. Evidence for a cutaneous metastasis of osteosarcoma is not observed.
So it still has to be watched although it is benign. Dr. said that if it gets bigger or starts bothering her it might need to come out and they will measure it on her check ups. She also said these usually do not become malignant. *sigh of relief*
Time for my medicinal nap.

Cool! Cadence and I have something in common. We both have mature adipose tissue! (Otherwise known as "old lady fat!) Hahahahah! Go Cadence!
