For the past couple of days, Farley has been excessively licking his right front paw; I noticed his slightly off-weighted it when standing. Palpation of the underside of the paw was painful so today we took him to the vet to check it out (he can't afford to have a problem with any of his feet)

The vet clipped the pad area and cleaned it plus some antiseptic (there was a reddened area probably caused by the constant licking); he now has to wear a cone for about a week

I've attached a video of him going up the path when we go home from the vet to show how well he's getting around

He really is fetting along wo effortless  and with such a good flow.  He's proof  life on three is easy for these resilient  dogs.  That's a lovely path for him to meander  home.

Bummer about the paw and the dreaded cone.  Sounds like things will clear up pretty quickly.   Not quick enough  for Farley if he has to wear that cone more than three seconds though😟

WOW yes he IS moving really nicely! Even with the bum foot!

It's not unusual for a dog to get a pressure sore after becoming a Tripawd. If the vet couldn't find an exact cause, it's likely due to the altered gait. Just keep an eye on it and consider a dog bootie for the affected paw. Our Nellie wears nearly every time she goes outside, otherwise that on again, off again pressure sore on her wonky paw gets worse.

Farley update

The paw licking turned out to be nothing-probably stress; I now see him intermittently licking any one of his paws

On the 11th, he went in for his follow-up blood work and chest x-ray; both were normal (pneumonia has finally cleared!!)

Now that I know his white count has recovered from his chemotherapy, I can take him places, so two days ago I took him to Echo's nosework class (Echo is my 5 y/o Toller). Farley did  great job searching for bits of hot dog hidden in the room. I'll continue taking him to this class. I took my phone to class fully intending to get a video of Farley searching but forgot-maybe next time

If my husband comes with me to Echo's barn hunt class next week, we'll take Farley and he run around a new place (he's not strong enough to climb the straw bales to do barn hunt)

Farley has seemed much his old self in the last couple of weeks

Definitely  have to get pictures next time.  Farley can show newbies how much fun dogs can have on three.

Thanks for checking  in.

Christine that is wonderful! I'm so glad things are good and he's doing well. He's rockin the life! In time he'll get that strength, and maybe even do barn hunts and Rally like Ari, who is still going strong and racking up those ribbons.

We would LOVE to see video!

Today we took Farley for a short walk in a wooded area where he has been before; he was smiling all the time and told us when he wanted to go home

I took some photos but don't know how to post them

I know Farley enjoyed his walk with you and I jave no doibt he was wagging his tail the whole time.  You need to change the video to PUBLIC as right now we can't  see it because it is "private".

Here's a link for adding images .  In the meantime I'll PM you my email and I would be honored  to post some photos of smiling Farley😎

BTW that's a GREAT video of Farley thriving on three!!  He really does look like he's in his element on that beau path through Nature👍

Now we we have some photos to make us smile  of Mr Handsome Farley.  He looks so happy.👍  He has clearly  mastered  standing strong and stable on three.😎

What I wouldn't  give for all those beautiful  natural "curls".

Today, Farley had another Nosework class

This time the hotdogs are paired with a scent he will learn to search for

He finds the first one on the stepstool; there is another  on the back of the green chair which he can smell but didn't locate until later

There is one in the middle of the long white bench which he can smell, but can't get to because he is on the wrong side of the puppy gate

He finds another on the cement block in the corner.

He continued and found all five hides

Hopefully this video can be viewed this time

Grrrr........got. "Oops!  Something went wrong!"

The way you chronicled  Farley's  adventure  gave us  a pretty good "visual" of how well he did.  He's such a smart boy!  I know you had fun and are very proud of this Tripawd RockStar!👏👏👏

Hmmm.....not sure what needs to be done to get the video to work.

CONGRATULATIONS FARLEY!!    You did really in the class.👍

YAY YOU DID IT!

And so did Farley! smiley_clap What a sharp, sharp boy. Interesting pairing hot dogs with the scents. Which scents? One would think that the two smells would be so overpowering that it would be too difficult to find them, but hey not for Farley. Smart smart boy. He didn't even trip or lose his balance even with those obstacles on the floor. That was a bunch of challenges in one small space and he aced all of them. smiley_clap
