Ahora si, me presento.

Hello everyone. Before introducing myself, I wanted to thank you, because although I have never written, I have read you a lot. I am Cristina, and I am writing to you from Spain. I will leave the Google translation, I hope you understand everything and that Google does not play a trick on us.
Now yes, I introduce myself. I'm Cristina, and my hero is Morgan, a 12-year-old Pondenco cross. In November 2022 he was diagnosed with grade 2 chondrosarcoma. In January we amputated his front leg and the recovery was great. It was amazing to see how he could lead the same life as when he had four legs.
The problem comes to me now. I recently stopped walking, at first I thought it was because of the switch from gabapentin to pregabalin, but we went back to gaba and there was no improvement, then I thought maybe it was because of the heat (here we reached 40 degrees), but at In the end I discarded it because at 8 in the morning it is not hot.
Feeling, I realized that his whole back was creaking, and yesterday I saw that he had problems with proprioception and stability.
Today I went to the vet and my suspicion is confirmed, he has a herniated disc. He told me that chronic hernias with age were almost inoperable, because at that age, many are damaged and it would be reconstructing the entire back. He has recommended a physical therapist and I am trying to contact him.
So I was looking for someone to tell me about their experience if they have gone through the same thing as me. How likely is it that my dog will end up disabled? When the front leg is missing... if this happens... would the only solution be euthanasia? The mood is great, and until a few weeks ago he ran and jumped. I'm dying of grief just thinking that cancer has not been able to with us but a bloody hernia. A little light please.
Hello Christina and Morgan,
Google translation seemed to work good. Thank you so much for including it. Hopefully you can understand our responses as well using it. Your future posts will not need moderation. Also, you might want to post in our ask a vet forum as our friendly vet might also have some input.
So sorry to hear that Morgan is having back issues. Personally I have some very bad back issues which greatly limit my mobility. So I certainly understand at least a part of what you both are struggling with. For me personally, anti inflammatory medications, muscle relaxers, cortisone injections and therapy do help. But am not sure how directly this would apply to dogs. Though I am certain that others here will have some further insights.
Hugs and best wishes!

Hi Cristina, bienvenidas!
