Dear All,
it is time to say hello again!
Jerry: I love the story of your sister in law so much!!! I am so glad to hear someone has beaten cancer!
I start with the good news: We cant believe it, but Emma is 14.5 years old today!!!
She still is so fit and does not look that age.
Its 10 months now, since she has had her leg removed. Our goal was one year, so we are really pleased we nearly made it there.
Emmy has received an unbelieveable total of 12 chemos, for her lymphoma since January. Her tumor behaved and was in remission since then.
Sadly, this week we had to notice, that it is starting to appear and grow again. Initially, I was hoping for Emma to complete this therapy and then be able to enjoy some time healthy, after that. But it looks like we have to change treatment now.......and see whats going to happen next.
It's so great to hear from you, and on such a big day! HOPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA!!!
Your girl is so strong, and we are in awe of how well she is doing! That cancer is no match for her, or your for that matter. I'm sorry the chemo treatment needs to change. Emma can certainly get that stinky cancer back under control! Let us know what your oncologist recommends. Also, a new member's pup is also battling lymphoma, Emmy's story will give them some hope they really need!
Give her extra belly rubs from us!
Emma, you are definitely a Warrior Tripawd RockStar! Add a very "mature" to that description!
To be battling a second piece of crap disease and to do it as a "seasoned" mature gal is quite a testament to your inner str. And it certainly is a testament to how loved and adored you are by your hoomans. They certainly are leaving no stone unturned.
And what's important, it seems Emmy is still enjoying QUALITY time. Days on a calendar mean nothing to her, but being with her hoomans from one moment to the next means everything.
And now, drum roll🥁🥁🥁
HAPPY 14.5 BIRTHDAY EMMA!
Hope you jad some ice cream and cake. And of you didnt, tell your hoomans to get you some now!!!🥳🍨🎂
Extra hugs

Thank you Jerry and Sally!
Yes, I saw that another dog Daisy has both cancers at the same time. Maybe there is a chemo, which works for both cancers?
Emma is on a 25 week protocol from university of Wisconsin-Madison. This means a total of 16 chemos of 8 Vincristin, 4 Doxorubicin, 4 Cyclophosphamid in addition Prednisolon for the first 4 weeks. Emma had 6 months inbetween both cancers, which allowed enough time to treat one cancer at a time. Actually Doxorubicin is supposed to be effective for both cancers.
The oncologist informed me, that Doxorubicin was being used for osteosarcoma treatment, before Carboplatin was available. The oncologist should know.
Emma did receive her 13th chemo yesterday. As her popliteal lymphoma did not grow any further, the oncologist recommended to go ahead and continue with her treatment plan. It feels awful to take her to all those chemos. I cant say it is easy and she feels a little bit sick after Vincristin. But at the end of the day, she still is such a happy girl!
I am so grateful for the suppert here!!
Ah she's doing the "CHOP" protocol, very tested. And yes Doxo was used before carboplatin, so she's getting a twofer!
Chemo in dogs is always about preserving quality of life. As long as she is still getting her sparkle back without too much lag time after treatments, it sounds like she's tolerating this really well.
That is terrific news that the lymphoma is under control. Your happy girl is showing that cancer who's boss
Thanks for the update. We are grateful for members like you who take time to help us learn by sharing Emma's story!
WOW! Emma is certainly getting a variety of treatments and some for quite awhile now. Goodness knows you are doing everything possible for your girl.
Anf yes, as long as sparkle comes back fairly quickly after the treatments then onward and upward. If not, you can always stop.
Emma truly is a Warrior and we are all cheering for up to continue to be Emma👏
Hugs

Emma has been able to celebrate her hoppy anniversary on the 27th of July. She was doing really well that day. T
For some reason, it went downhill the following day. The lymphoma had got out of hand, since July and finally spread to her lungs. Her breathing got bad and for the last few days, she was so weak, I had to carry her.
I had to let Emma go on the 5th of August. It is such a shame, Emma was nearly 15 and could have gone one forever, without cancer. She was really fit and looked like a young dog and was coping brilliantly, on just one hip replacent for the past year.
We are so happy, we did get one extra year with our girl and definitely would do it again. This site has been such a huge support!!!
Thank you for your help, Sally and Jerry!
Oh I'm really sorry, just heartbroken to see this sad news. She had such a long life, but it's never long enough is it? Under such tough circumstances you did the best thing and came through for her in a big way. To set her tired body free of the pain and help her transition over in peace was such a selfless act. When a dog knows they are loved right up until their last breath, it's a gift to their spirit, and allows their loving energy to continue on in the universe in so many different ways. What a loving parent you were to her, all through her life. May that young dog energy of hers surround you and bring you comfort as you adjust to life without her.
I'm really glad you got extra bonus time with her too. Thank you for being so kind to let us know she's an angel now. And never forget, you're always part of this Tripawds family.
Jerry said this do well

We are all so sorry to know our dear sweet Emma had to head to The Rainbow Bridge.
When a dog like Emma continues to blow statistics out of the water and beat all the odds, it is a shock to know that her earth life had to end. We get lulled into believing a dog like that even overcome age and live furever!
One thing for sure, Emma has made a lasting impact here and will continue to inspire our more "mature" members to know that dogs can thrive on three legs just as well as younger pups. The love and devotion yoj jave for her, the bond you two shared and the lengths you went to to give her the best extended quality time possible.....yeah you and Emma will be Legends arou d here for so manh reasons.
I love the picture the Admin Guy posted. Emma's happy and ALERT and fully engaged in the moment. Always hold that memory in your heart along with the other thousand memories you have shared for almost 15 years!!
And you k ow Emma will connect with you from her energy form in another dimension. Pay attention and look for her signs. It may take awhile for her to connect because ahe's having such a good time running through beaut sunlit fields and eating steak and ice cream every night
Surrounding you with Emma's happy smile
