My Dane will be 14 (yep, FOURTEEN) in April 2019, God willing. She has been raw fed since puppyhood up until Eider's diagnosis, when cost became an issue. I switched her to dry food and canned food (she is of course THRILLED about this) and she seems to thrive on this as well. I think vaccines are just as important as food. She has had zero vaccines since she was 3 years old. Her only issue is a little incontinence and some stiffness getting up from sleeping.
Update for Eider: Dr M at Auburn agrees to come off the Palladia. Also, we are doing 7 days of no meds at all (not even Rapamycin/Piroxicam) just to give him a break from this crap. Saturday, he will go back on Rapamycin and Piroxicam. We are going to head to Auburn asap to re-stage and have a discussion about what to do next. She mentioned "a few other metronomics " we could try. I will let you all know what we come up with.
In the meantime, my little guy is feeling SO much better and we slept ALL NIGHT last night. (first time in WEEKS).
Thanks everyone! -Lauren
Glad to hear he is feeling better! One question....when you say your Dane hasn't had any vaccines since she was 3 yrs old, does that include rabies? If so, how do you get around that?
Paula and Warrior Angel Nitro
Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"
"Be good, mama loves you".....run free my beautiful Warrior
