Coming back to this extremely helpful forum for an update on Ed. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions since 10 year old Italian spinone, Ed, had his front leg amputated due to osteosarcoma. Our plan was to move forward with chemotherapy however he had an outbreak of several ulcers which halted this plan. Some vets wanted to perform surgery on an ulcer on his eyelid, others wanted to do extensive testing and biopsies to figure out what they were and how to cure them. In the end they healed on their own but it took almost two months and needing to use a cone full time.
Today he had lung xrays which I was sure would show a spread since it’s been a while, however his lungs looked great! He has also been extremely happy, hiking in the woods, eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally. He started chemo this morning and I’m hoping his body and mood is not too badly affected.
I am so thankful we went through with the amputation and I have much gratitude for those on this forum who supported me along the way.

Ed you are a rock star! It's so good to hear from you and know that despite those icky ulcers, you are beating the odds and rockin' the 3-legged life! Congratulations on showing the world that losing a leg doesn't mean losing a life. smiley_clap

Thank you so much for taking time to return to let us know how you're doing. Got any photos you'd like to share? (Remember, this is how adding images works, but let me know if you'd like help OK?)

Also, how did you get the ulcers to heal? Was there an ointment or something that did the trick? Just curious.
