Hank didn't pee this morning neither than he pooped, ate his kibbles or drank any water. I was getting quite worried. I took him to his vet appointment to remove the bandage and the patch. The suture looks good and there's just a little bit of fluid. The vet told me that he wouldn't be too worried about all of the "problems" because the patch and the other meds hes on can reduce the bowel movements and appetite. He said that Hank was perky and hydrated so not to worry as of now. His only worry was that he could lick his sutures. Once at home he was already better. He did the stairs like a pro. Just the way he used to do them on 4 legs. Once in the house he actually drank a full bowl of water! I also mixed some chicken hearts and kidneys (cooked) into his kibbles and he finally ate some after 1 hour in his recovery pen. Good work for the Hanky. Hank is now wearing a red t-shirt so he doesn't lick his stitches. I think I call this improvement!

It took sassy about 4 days to poop.  but eventually she did.  I was reading on here it could take some dogs up to 5 or 6 days because of all the meds.  I wish I could say sassy does the steps up as well as she did with 4 but rear legs are different.  Yay Hank for eating & drinking :)

Jerry, I took him out around 9pm and he did a long pee and he was kinda grunting along. My translation is "this feels so good!". He's not laying in my bedroom resting peacefully. I made the remark earlier to my boyfriend that he seemed at peace and sound asleep for the first time in days (hank was resting on the living room floor). I feel less worried finally. :)

Hank looks good for 3 days out, and a huge yay for first pee!!!! Maggie didn't poop until day 5 or 6, but then she was pretty stubborn about everything in her recovery.
The Christmas decoration on Hank's pen is very festive, and a nice touch!

I hope his recovery continues smoothly.

Hang in there, Hank! Things are getting better! Those pain meds have strong effects. I recall my little Frazier was glassy-eyed and disoriented and even peed in the house (something he would normally NEVER do).

We hope that his recovery progresses nicely.

Looks like Hank is really happy to have you in his pen.  Please be very careful allowing him to jump on the furniture so soon into recovery.  I know some of them do it like a pro, but it always scares me a little. They are still a bit clumsy and could damage a leg.

Hank is looking fantastic and very festive in red.  Im so happy for you that he is on the road to recovery.  Isnt it just amazing how well they adjust?  I think its harder on us then it is for them.   I have to tell you, Ive been reading about all you had to go through to get this surgery, and you are just as amazing as Hank is.  Your love for Hank is very touching.  Keep us posted.  Im excitied to see how he gets better with each passing day.

Seeing all that snow reminds me to make plans to take our Cadence to Lake Tahoe very soon.  She loves playing in the snow.  We are in California so no snow here.  Take care, and Im thinking about you and Hank.

So awesome that he is doing so well and resting.  I think he was very happy to have you in his pen with him.

I didn't realize there would be such a big scar on his shoulder.  I know the fur will grow back and cover.  He looks so happy.

You are a trooper for yourself & Hank.  Make sure to get plenty of rest :)

I'm so glad that things are going better now...   he looks very comfy and relaxed and happy to be home!!

Once the pain meds kick into their system, it is much more comfortable for them.  My Franklin is bandaged up, I have not even seen his scar yet!  He has had a few bandage changes and everything is wonderful.. Stitches come out on Monday!  He will be wearing a T-shirt them.. I will have to get him something festive like Hanks!!

Good luck!!

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012.  Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013.  Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack...   You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!
