She continues to be a inspiration to me. From now on whenever I think that I can't do something. I only need to look at her to realize the only limits we have, are the ones that we place on ourselves. (I think I'm stealing that line just not sure where I heard it.)
I was a little worried at first, kind of reminded me of taking the training wheels off my kids bike and letting them go for the first time. I find that I am so over protective of the three limbs she has left. Just need to start to trust that she will only do what she can and will respond to me if I think that it's time to slow things down.
Anyway I shouldn't have worried at all, as the only trouble I had was getting far enough away from her to take this photo.
My girl, back in action.
Thanks everyone for this wonderful site. What a wonderful resource, made this difficult time a little easier.
Oh and I just wanted to add that I love, love, love her Ruff Wear Harness . She's not to impressed with the Pawz, so we're still working on that.
What a great picture. Once again, we have a reason to wag our tails! It really is amazing what our pups can do, and they certainly inspire us to try anything without limits. I think this calls for yet another celebration! Ice cream???
3 paws up!

What a beautie! That is terrific news!
Don't feel bad, you are suppose to worry! That's what we call "love"!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Gorgeous! (though I was a bit concerned about the title of the post ... Ajax was mighty interested when I read it to him)
Don't worry, she'll get better and better at setting her own limits or lack thereof. Ajax is still trying new things every day, 4 weeks post op, and frankly he has turned out to be a much better judge of what he should and shouldn't do than I am!
She's beautiful and looks like she is doing very well. That's just pawsome!

Thank you for the kind comments, that's exactly why we maintain this site.
Cassie is beautiful, she has the same white sock Jerry did, just the other leg.

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Thanks all for the kind comments. Her amputation was traumatic experience for us both. I had no time to get used to the idea before it was time to care for her. My initial reaction was no not my girl, that was so beautiful in motion, how could she ever be happy again. Well just goes to show how little I knew.
Cassie is beautiful!!!! That picture is worth a million words! Brings tears to my eyes looking at the photo and reading your post....cause it sounds exactly like me the first time I let my dog, Maggie, off her leash... I balled my eyeballs out videotaping her! Just as you're making me cry with your post
Those little moments! They are FANTASTIC!! Go Cassie!

Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09
Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
I too was worried when I started walking Chloe without her sling, then letting her go up stairs on her own and finally to run and chase her squeaker. I honestly didn't think she would ever be able to do those last two aforementioned things ever again, but like you said, dogs can be truly inspiring.
Thanks for the great update!!

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
Donna and Cassie,
Thanks for the great photo and update. I am sure that Cassie will continue to "amaze" you with strength, courage, and love as she moves along this journey. Miss Cherry had a walking gait that literally would stop people on the street and many of her obedience trial judges commented on her gait. The conformation show people envied that beautiful gait, but when the diagnosis came down, my only concern was to once again see the sparkle in her eyes. You have caught that sparkle in Cassie's eyes and for us, that is really where it is at. Return them to the quality of life that they deserve.
Sending Pawsitive Thoughts,
Spirit Cherry's Dad
