Hank is doing well overall on his second day. His bandage and patch don't bother him much. He's taking his med like a champion. The front porch stairs are a little bit of a pain but I'm adding some coco mat pieces tomorrow for more traction
. I also got a runner mat for the kitchen because it's on slippery tiles. He doesn't eat very well but with some peanut butter some kibbles gets in. One thing that worries me is that he haven't peed today and when I took him out this evening he yelped as he was hoping around. Not sure why as everything look good. I guess that it's something to ask the vet when I go tomorrow for bandage and patch removal. I tried his cone from the vet yesterday and it was too small. I was happy that he didn't mind his bandages. I went to get him a inflatable doughnut one. They are not cheap but he will be less bothered by that than an actual cone. He can still reach his back legs but he won't be able to reach his suture.
Tonight Hank wanted to go on the couch and after analyzing it he hoped on it. Now he's resting peacefully. He's such a great patient!

Sounds like you're making great progress. I hope he's urinated by now but if not the vet can take care of that. Let us know how the vet visit went.
You might want to limit his jumping on furniture and things, activities like that can add to the risk of damaging his incision. Adding a step for him to use to get to the couch will help lessen the chance of a busted stitch or staple. I'm just guessing, but his yelp might have been from pulling a muscle, that happens often. Keeping him on restricted activity for a while will help avoid it.
Good luck at the vet!

Well it sounds like Hank is doing really well,
and he will piddle when he has a mind too ! they like to cause us at least one worry a day If he's not eating or drinking much then he may not need to go yet ??
If the bandage is still on then maybe the sticky caught his skin ? I know that Fizzly squeaked a couple of times for this reason
But all in all I think your doing really well and it seems that Hank is coping brilliantly and they can show us how truly Stubborn they could be when it comes to climbing and doing stupid things !! Like Jerry said try to help him as much as possible by making steps to get on and off things like sofa's
Hank will continue to amaze you with his just get on with it attitude <3
Take care and Lots of love

Thanks for your kind words!
Hank for let me help him when it comes to touch his belly. He comes from an abusive past and I think he got hit or kicked on his belly before I got him. He's better about touching it but lays on the ground when you proceed to lift it. I will talk to my vet about the couch for sure and the pee/poo issue and the fact that he doesn't eat or drink very well. I wouldn't want to cause any problems. Mind you he loves his treats! He's seems pretty happy and he wags his tail furiously when I talk to him. I'm glad I have been keeping a journal of his habits. Now I can refer to it to know when was his last pee and so on. Thanks to Michelle for pushing it on me.
I'm lucky I have great teams of compassionate professionals to guide me through it and friends (real and online) to support me and help. My Christmas wish have been fulfilled already. God gave me more time with my boy. It haven't been a walk in the park and I still need to work things out but every second I'm putting toward the Hanker is a well spent second. Love him so much!

I'm so glad that Hank is doing ok with his new adventure as a Tripawd! I haven't had a problem with my Franklin drinking, but I did read a suggestion about putting gatorade or chicken brother in their water to entice them to drink some more.
Perhaps that might help Hank get some more fluids into him... Does he like ice cubes? some doggers like to crunch them.. if he likes them.. what if you made ice cubes with some chicken broth in them!!!!!??? Now.. there's an idea!!
It's amazing how them like to go onto the couch... my pups a couch dog lately. Especially since we had thought that we were not going to do amputation a fe months ago and we were just going to spoil him rotten.. so, we snuggled lots on the couch. Well now.. here he is two months later, cancer free and still thinks he can own the couch!!
Good luck with Hankster... He seems to be doing pretty good!!

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012. Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013. Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack... You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!
I am so glad Hank is doing good. Sounds like he has a little spunk in there too. I write in my journal everyday. The milestones and how I think Sassy is feeling and if she is down or spunky. Doing good for day 2.
