Well, this morning was an adventure...at 5am my hubby woke me to help soak up and clean up the pool of fluid leaking from Cotton's incision. I didn't know that there could be so much fluid. I would say about a pint of fluid came out of there.
We went to vet's office (for his 7 day recheck) where it started again, and he left a pool on the waiting room floor. Vet said that there was no infection, no fever, and the seroma is common. He added a couple of staples and glue to close the incision where the fluid was leaking. He said if the odor or color changes to come back it. He prescribed warm wet compresses for a few days to help the fluid move and be reabsorbed.
So other than some laundry, we are doing good.
Happy Black Friday, everyone!!
Yay, Cotton. Good news!
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
OH GOOD
Sounded like that's what it was, bt we're never sure on this journey what could be going on!! Maybe, in a bizarre way, t's good that all that fluid leaked out! Messy, scarey, but still a releif!!
Okay sweet Cotton, time fr you to get on with just the "normal" recovery, keep earingyour home cooked meals, and soaking in all the loving and spoiling they are throwing your way!! I'm sure that's an immense amount!!

What a handsome boy!
I'm sorry you have to deal with the mess and worry of a seroma ......but it sounds like he is recovering well other than that. Glad to hear Cotton is on the road to recovery. It really does get better.
