Thanks!

I have given her a bit of time out of the kennel this morning and she is being a normal playful pup (i'm keeping it mellow) but I'm about to stick her back in the kennel.

And Jerry, thanks for the reminder. I was going to try dap pheremones and I ran out of money and then forgot about it. I will see if I can get some tonight. I will see if the pet store has rescue remedy too.

Wooohoo! Every day sounds like it's getting better little by little!

Let us know how the dap pheremones work. I hear it works great for many dogs.

I was about to go to bed but I have to share with someone....

Cora let me rub her tummy!!!!!!!!!!! big-grinbig-grinbig-grin She has never wanted me to touch her underside. At all, now way, keep your mitts off me mom. But she  was all mellow and her tummy was there and I reached gently out and started rubbing and she was  like "oooo, feels good". Then she remembered that she didn't like it so she complained for a moment and then she went back to "oooo, feels good!". Woo hoo

And this is the first time.... in weeks? that i've had a truly mellow evening.  Cora was playful but no drama and she was quiet. I mean, the big excitement was that  I had to stop her from chewing on my shoes. Normal puppy stuff.

ok, not true. the other drama was the barking when I put her in the kennel. It was very short but cora just has to protest. She likes the kennel, but feels it's her obluigation to let me know it wasn't her idea to go in and if she's in the kennel i should be going to bed too. He he he..

Yaaaay for progress!

Chris, your situation with Cora reminds my Mom about what it was like when Wyatt Ray first joined our pack. He didn't like touch, didn't make eye contact and was very leery about any kind of affection. And ironically he also had bad separation anxiety. Today he's still not the biggest cuddlebug, but he does appreciate touch more than ever and he can be left home alone for a few hours without any real issues (unless we leave food on the counter!). We know Cora will get there too!

May today be even better than yesterday!

First of all, yay for Cora and tummy rubs! I hope she is maturing and discovering that you have a lot to give her, Chris.

Second, it was Donovan who sang "Mellow Yellow." I know because I'm old enough to know. And in September of 1977, I went on my first date with the guy I married and we saw Yes...and Donovan opened for them. A very odd combination, if you ask me.

Sorry for the momentary hijack, Chris.

Shari......DONOVAN. Couldn't think of it! YES and DONOVAN....what a mix. Good thing Donovan came on first as YES could still be playing....

Let's see...."Owners of a Lonely Heart", right?

Sure do f love this kind of "nothing is happenstance" stuff.....Cora. mentions mellow----then the song....then you and George (right....seems like I remember you saying his name in chat)....first date.......marriage.......and on it goes!! Maybe I was your bridesmaid in a previous life:-) :-)

Cora, I'm also sorry for hijacking your site:-)

So how is Cora:-)

i'm about to go to bed and I'm going to be laying there with "mellow yellow" running through my head. lol

cora is good. she's just a bit whiny tonight so I definitely need to watch her activity level. she is such a happier and quieter pup these last few  days. i think I'm getting to know the real cora. the one who isn't dealing with pain and the fear of falling.

floyd is terrified of the vacuum. this means, he must attack the vacuum, because floyd is nuts. so, I had floyd in segregation while I was vacuuming and shampooed the rugs but left cora out. she wasn't afraid at all and ended up being underfoot. it was rather neat to see her dealing well with something.

on the carpet cleaning... we had not quite mastered potty training and with the trauma of the last few weeks we regressed big time. so now that she can move around more  easily and I can handle her better without hurting her, we are going to step up the potty training.

alright, I'm off to sleep to  my mellow yellow lullabylittle-devil

It was an awful song. If you insist on falling asleep humming Donovan, try Sunshine Superman. Isn't that one better?

Cora seems to be having a harder couple days. I don't know what it is. I don't know if she's in pain. In a lot of ways she doesn't seem to be but she's much more irritable. I don't know if it's the tramadol. She has been panting more. She has also been itchy and I don't know if that's related or a separate thing or....arrrrrrrg

Chris, tramadol can make dogs cranky and the itching is probably due to the incision drying up (which is a good thing). All little things connected to the amp probably but it can't hurt to keep an eye on it.

And remember, Cora is still very early into recovery so she will continue ups and down...good days...less good days...for a little while longer.

I know that "advice" is much easier to believe when they are have a good day.....harder when they aren't having a good day

The panting could indicate pain and, of course, could be a sign of the tramadol! You could try a little increase in the pain meds to see if it helps.....and, of course, decrease and see if that takes care of it:-) :-) Catch 22, huh?

Can't wait to continue to follow all the magnificent changes I. Your bond as she progresses

More pictures:-) :-) :-)
