Hi everypawdy. I think this is the right place to post this. Cooper rebounded in a most awesome fashion from the sinus/allergy troubles only to have his left rear leg give out on him last weekend - he took a controlled spill when his leg went out but he cried a lot Saturday night and moved very little, had a hard time getting a comfy position to sleep. He seemed better By Sunday, but still had obvious distress in his left rear. Called the vet Monday morning - I had thought Coopers hip had a problem but on describing what happened and what kind of mobility he had , the vet said he felt Cooper had pulled something in his knee. He put him on Previcox, to get the pain and inflammation out and possibly this Friday we will do an xray. He wants to avoid any kind of surgery due to Coopers age and the fact that it is his amp side that was hurt. After 2 days Coop is moving around very well, still a bit weak going up and down the stairs, but no crying and he was standing up waiting for us when we got home today. He has also gotten back to being very playful. Just asking for prayers and pawsitive thoughts for my boy, he has been such a trooper since day one, he has so much spirit and in terms of cancer is plain kicking its butt, even though we never did chemo. Biggest battle seems to be in keeping his body from wearing out before his spirit does! I didnt say anything sooner because I just wanted a couple of days to see how serious this looked. I will keep everyone posted

Coops, you rebounded so high you took a spill! Doh! Feel better my friend, I hope you're back to normal soon. Watch out for the Previcox though, it's like crack for dogs. It made me like a PUPPY again but it also messed up my gut. If your poo is mucusy, black or runny, stop taking it and call your vet OK?
And hey, remember, I never did IV chemo either, so if I could do it, I know YOU can keep kickin' cancer's butt too!!!!
Rest up, we're rootin' for ya.

OK, Coop, you need to take it a little easier. We need you to rest and re'coop'! It isn't nice to worry mom and dad.
Glad to hear you're feeling better.

scary stuff - glad you are feeling better now!! we've had a few 'spills' too, and it is double hard to catch yourself 'mid-air' with only three legs. if you have availability, we highly, highly recommend some acupuncture for the knee, back, hip, etc. it's really helped when we had such issues. sending our best ET juju to cooper and folks, we highly recommend you boost the number of medicinal naps!!!
charon & gayle

I read this at work this morning, but couldn't tell you that I instantly said my prayers for Cooper and for your family. He is really amazing, I am so confident he will be back up in no time. But if it makes you feel better, he is included in my prayers anyway, BECAUSE he is such an amazing boy, we love Cooper!
Hugs from our Newfie mix to yours, and us to you,

Elizabeth and Sammy, hugs right back to all of you from Cooper and us! And thank you so much for your prayers for Coopie. I personally believe in God and believe He looks after our furkids, He was their creator too, why wouldnt He watch out for them? Cooper was up to greet us again tonight and insisted on doing it himself when he went outside, no ruffwear harness . So under my watchful care he went upstairs and down inside and out all by himself ( I had a hold of his collar and kept him against the wall to contain him) but he is moving so much more freely today and is quite obviously pretty well done with pain. Thanks for the warm thoughts everyone!
