We are very pleased to say that one week out from surgery Cody is doing great! Keeping our fingers crossed that everything stays this way! Just a few of the ways Cody is recovering...
*Pooping everyday!
*Sleeping more through the night
*Laying on his "stump" more everyday!
*Eating and drinking normal
*Enjoying (so far) his change in diet
*Chewed on his bone for a few minutes today
*Doesn't completely freak out in the cone of shame
We are just so excited with our little victories we wanted to share them with all of you! While we still have some scared and worries and sleepless nights we are so proud of how Cody is doing. Praying this next week and every week after is just as good.
I don't know how to add pictures to a forum post... but all of this latest pictures are up on his blog "Cody's Journey"
Cody is our 7 year old Australian Heeler mix boy. Diagnosed on 2/20/14 and became a tripawd 2/21/14! We chose a homeopathic approach and he is being treated by Dr. Loops our of NC.
Great news!!! Glad to hear he's doing so well one week out. Shelby also pooped from day one .... my dog has always been a healthy pooper! 🙂
And she layed on her amp site from day one too. It doesn't bug her. Now that we're almost 2 months out, she will bolt up and run off to the other side of the room but for the most part, she lays on both sides, no big deal.
I don't know if you want to, but Shelby had a soft pillow cone of shame - she hated the plastic one.Just something to think about... Petco has them for pretty cheap.
He's doing great and so are you!!! I saw your blog! He's adorable. I love those ears! I want to snuggle them!!!
Hang in there and keep the updates coming!

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
