Hello, Just wanted to give an update on my Chloe. She had her surgery yesterday, Friday. I dropped her off at 8:30am, sat in my car and cried a good 15mins with her before actually being able to walk in and still couldnt stop. She was done early and stayed until about 8pm when i picked her up. At first glance it was very hard and heartbreaking to see her like that. The tech bought her to me in the room like a baby wrapped in a plush blankie and a soft cone on her head. She was totally out of it but looked so sad... they showed me the incision and wow, i was glad i had you guys to get me ready for it. otherwise i may have fainted... it was a shock. My daughter held her and we took her home. She spent the night in my room in the crate at eye level because she cried if she didnt see me. Took some time but she managed to fall asleep for a few hours. Next morning i took the cone off, and decided to take her out for potty. She did amazingly well!!! I did have a few tears of stress worrying she was going to fall over as she tried to do her circles and doing a little drunk dance. I was very proud of her strength! Got her inside and put her little shirt on her. She then started hopping around like a little bunny, took her a little bit but she got it. Right now i have been inpressed with how well she is doing. She is getting around but mostly laying down until she hears her favorite sound....the wrapping of kraft cheese LOL she hops in with her tail wagging 🙂 Thank goodness for her strength! The doctor said her leg had atrophy already because she stopped using it and that worked in her favor for many reasons. Bone was down to nothing and easier to remove and she knows how to hop on three legs already. He did biopsy of the swollen lymph nodes and the leg tumor. We will have results on Monday or Tuesday. I am nervous for this but I am grateful to give her the opportunity right now to be pain free from the leg tumor. Thank you all for the advice and the support. I will update her blog soon 🙂

Wow, sounds like she is doing great so far!
Now, don't be surprised in the next couple of days if she crashes a little. It does not always happen, but it's not unusual for pups to hop back a little when the surgery meds get fully out of there system.
Hopefully Chloe has a smooth and uneventful recovery, she's off to a good start.

So glad she did well with surgery and is home resting comfortably. I thought about her surgery on Friday and wondered how she did. Thanks for the good update! All she needs to do now is rest, potty and eat. Here's to an uneventful recovery with each day bringing new pawgress!

I'm so happy for you that she is home. My kitty Mona was also presented to me all bundled up in a blanket a few hours after surgery. That is one of the best parts of having a small pet. 16 months after her amputation I sometimes bundle Mona in a blanket to rock her. She loves it but my other cat seems to find it a bit much.
Try not to worry if she falls over - she doesn't have far to go. Mona (front leg amputee) did a lot of face plants and seemed to find a way to roll with it and quickly recover. They adapt really well as they learn to rebalance.
Enjoy your nursing time with Chloe this weekend, I found it was a real honour to fuss over my cat as she recovered.
Kerren and Tripawd Mona
Welcomd home sweet Chloe!!! Sounds like moving around is fairly easy for you a d that's so encouraging! You take it easy though little girl.
Keep the pain meds consistent...and keep the Kraft cheese unwrappi g! You're doing great!!
The surgeons always seem to get a little carried away with tne shaver sometimes. I all that furless area is almost as shocking as the Incision so etimes. But once it grows back, you really won't even know Chloe is a tripawd!
Thanks for taki g time to uldste. Try and get some rest! This is a very exhausting journey getting to the surgery and recovery.
Sending love a pnd hugs ...and grilled cheese sanfwiches!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
PS. And Kerren really did say, "Try not to worry if she falls over - she doesn't have far to go."
Yep, she really said that!!! Tripawd humor abounds here!!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
So happy she's home and surgery went well. This journey can be a roller coaster, just so you know and can be prepared. Little by little she'll get her sparkle back and amaze you by her resiliency. Still waiting to "chat" with you....take care.
