I am so very sorry to hear about Zeus. And I understand how devastated you must feel. But folks are right -- there will be time for tears later, but right now you don't have a minute to waste. Hug that boy of yours and spoil him rotten. Smile with him and make a million memories. And remember, those doctors can only speculate how much time he has left. He's a tough guy and he could surprise everyone.
Thinking of you,

My heart is breaking for you, I was so hoping that Zeus would get a good report. Zeus and my Lily have traveled this journey along almost the same timeline. I just love your beautiful Zeus--enjoy every second of the time you have left together. Zeus is such an inspiration to all of us. Spoil, spoil, spoil! Thinking of you and sending you strength.
Joan and Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
Oh Lisa...I'm so sorry to hear about Zeus! He has been such a fighter and inspiration to us. Enjoy every day you have and spoil him rotten. I'm thinking of you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Kathy & Tasha
Tasha was a German ShepherdBorder Collie mix who was diagnosed with OSA at age 8. On December 29, 2011 she had her front right leg amputated and received 4 rounds of chemo. Sadly and suddenly Tasha became sick and we discovered she had liver cancer that had spread to her lung. After almost 19 months, Tasha earned her wings on July 17, 2013. No regrets and never forgotten.
Zeus, you are a brave warrior now, and always. I am so sorry to hear about this news, I know that's got to hurt your folks so very much. But I will follow in your pawsteps and remember to rejoice in the time at hand. For now, it is your ampuversary, your time to shine, for you have fought such an incredible battle so courageously. You have an entire Tripawd community sending all the love we can gather (which is A LOT) to you and your family.
Lisa, this news just stinks, I'm so sorry. Stay strong and fearless as your boy, you can't go wrong. You can lean on us.

Lisa,
My heart is breaking for you. This is hard for me to write because Tate had his 8 month ampuversary and 3 days later he had ultrasound and we learned the cancer had spread throughout his abdomen. It was the closest, sweetest time after that. It was Thanksgiving and he had as much turkey as he wanted every day! We just spent every available moment with him, loving him, spoiling him, breathing in his scent, burying our faces in his soft fur.
The Zeus years will be over but the memories and the person you have become by knowing him will never be over. They change us for the better.
Happy Ampuversary Little Gentleman! What a brave, smart boy you are!

TATE ~ Forever in our hearts.
Oh no, Lisa! I have loved Zeus since I first saw his sweet, silly little smile. My thoughts will be with your during these next few weeks and I hope, despite the pain of pending separation, you free yourself to experience fully the joy of loving your "little gentleman." You have done everything you could, but it is time to accept what will be. Hug him, spoil him, love him, then set him free.
I wish I could have known him. There is something about his face that makes me think he would have been my friend. Now, perhaps he will be friends with my Sammy.
Best,
Beth, Spirit Smilin' Sammy and MB Wrigley
Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
I am so so sorry, please give Zeus a hug and a kiss from Porthos and I.

Angel Porthos, Pyrenean Mastiff, 7 years old Os front right leg, DX 18 May 2012, Amputation 14 June 2012, Hip Dysplasia, Two TPLO surgeries. Is now somewhere over the rainbow, 21 November 2013.
Like so many others, I adore Zeus sweet face and how supportive and upbeat you have always been. I'm so sorry you are now at this stage of your journey.
For me, when Sammy and I went through this part, every moment was so filled with love. Running my fingers through his fur, listening to his heart beat, all of the hugs were so very poignant. I can almost feel them now when I need to remember for a moment. So like many others are saying, enjoy this time and let go of every fear and suspend the hurt. It will surely be there later but for now he will be delighted with your full attention. I also would suggest to do everything he likes to do, don't forget brushing his fur if he likes it, every little thing. It will help focus your mind on the moment and you will have no regrets later for the "I should have done" stuff.
Happy 8 months Zeus, you are a rock star!
Hugs to you Lisa,
Elizabeth, Sammy's mom

Thank you all. Every one of your messages means the world to us.
I know many of you are worried and I wanted to post a quick update. Zeus is still eating/drinking, but he can't seem to go more than a few steps before he needs to stop and his breathing is still pretty fast. Even though he's weak, he's still managing to make us smile some. At lunch I pulled out his leash and he stood, stretched, wagged his tail and said the only word that he ever perfected: "Owwwwt" When Daddy came home from work he smiled and bounced a few times. And, of course, he inhaled his dinner. He is the most food motivated dog I have ever known.
I took tomorrow off work so that we can just be at home together quietly. We are watching him closely. Right now he still has the spirit in his eyes and he seems happy even if his body won't let him show it for long. Based on how quickly he has declined, I do not believe that he will make it through the weekend.
Please keep us in your prayers.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

A nice long weekend sounds like a good idea. Lots of snuggling and treats.
Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/
