Hello, me and my fiancé just adopted a five month old puppy who had to get her leg amputated after she had been hit by a car in Puerto Rico. Her stitches were removed a week ago and everything looked good and healed but now I’ve noticed there’s a bump on the top of the scar. I’m bringing her in to the vet tomorrow but I just wanted to know if anyone has any kind of experience with this? I am very worried and have a lot of anxiety and I’m hoping someone has a little information to pass along that might help me out.
Hi and welcome! Thanks for joining, and for adopting the sweet puppy. What's her name?
I'm not a vet but most likely this is scar tissue build-up. I'll bet your vet will be able to tell you as soon as she sees her tomorrow.
By the way, we hope you will take advantage of our Tripawds Foundation Rehabilitation Therapy Reimbursement program. If you get your girl to a rehab therapist, they can assess her to make sure she doesn't have other unaddressed injuries from the car accident (see Sam's story), and that is on the right track for healing, and finally, they'll show you the best ways to help her stay healthy and injury free as she grows. The best part is the Tripawds Foundation may pay for your first rehab visit so please check out the program so your girl can live a long, healthy and injury-free life.

Her name is Winnie! She’s an amazing little girl that I fell in love with the moment I met her.
Oh good, that makes me feel a little better, I’m a very big worrier when it comes to the health of my pets and I’ve never own a Tripawd before, so the worrying is even more so.
Wow! I’ll definitely be looking in to it, I didn’t even know there were specially trained practitioners for that! Thank you!
Thanks for adopting Winnie.
Some scars can grow keloids. I got them on a serious injury on my lip and the plastic surgeon told me to massage the area after the scar was well healed. The lump is now gone.
I massaged Mona's, my tripawd, when it was healed and after 6 years I do notice that she gets a few fur matts along the scar which is likely due to the hair growing difference direction.
I hope the vet can reassure you.

You've already gotten great advice for Winnie, so I'll just add my WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!❤
Thank you so much for adopting this precious Soul! Winnie clearly won the Puppy Lottery!!
Can't wait to hear more about her. We would love some pictures of her sweet self! ...... Adding images

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thank you so much everyone! I was so worried it was some kind of infection or worse! But she’s still my little playful baby, so I’m thinking it must be a keloid as some of you have said!
I’d like to say I won’t the Puppy Lottery, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect pup!
I’ll definitely upload some pictures once I figure out how to do that haha
